So question. why does EVERY transport exclude Primaris marines from being transported? are primaris marines DOOMED to foot slog everywhere?

yeah, the answer to Primaris transport is the new repulsor tank. Honestly I'm hoping there is a "rhino" duel kit option, as I suspect the Repulsor is gonna be expensive points wise. 250 plus points easily

personally i like the Repulsor but come on GW, put it in the codex and release it with the primaris marines. we don't want to wait.

I like the Repulsor and I'm gonna buy it anyway, but this transport segregation of Primaris and non-primaris marines irks me a lot. It makes running mixed army super annoying, as you have to constantly juggle which characters can go with which units. And of course it doesn't even make any sense fluff-wise; even if we would assume that the Primaris are too big to fit into smaller transports (just like terminators) there is absolutely no justification for barring them from riding transports that can carry terminators. And if the rumours about the Repulsor being limited to carrying Primaris only is true, that makes even less sense.

The long game is that Primaris will eventually simply be "the" Space Marines (probably in 3-5 years). I imagine you'll see a wave of new vehicles/etc. One thing I'm curious about is stuff like the FW Thunderhawk.

Primaris marines were launched along with the new re-design of the Thunderhawk (admittedly fine for HH games). Can it hold Primaris marines? It doesn't fit with the new marine direction.

Its a business call don't try to find fluff or rules justification.

They did answer that on the release post, it carries 15 Primaris marines

This has been my complaint as well. How or why a Land Raider can hold Centurions but not Primaris Marines is beyond me.

I will probably get some Repulsor tanks for my Primaris Marines, but I would much rather just have them in Rhinos.

BTW, I'm not even sure this segregation is a good sales gimmick. Easier the integration of the new models into existing armies is, more likely the existing marine players (and there is a lot of them!) are to jump onto the Primaris bandwagon.

Actually that tank is terrible. Like a fat hover ferry type gak. Should count as termites in existing transports.

Actually, not it appears like Primaris are being segregated. But just wait. When Primaris receive all the new and cool ultra-vehicles, the normal marines are the ones that are gonna feel segregated from not being able to ride in them.
A clear representation of the situation (No political intend with this image, mods!):

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I guess that GW hopes that the customers will integrate some Primaris units into their SM armies.
Not sure if they have a long-term plan to replace normal Marines with the new ones. They will just wait and see how it will evolve.

I honestly don't see it as much different than terminators only being able to go in land raiders in 5th (and then storm ravens when they came out). They are a different unit type and it's not that strange that they wouldn't be able to use rhinos and razorbacks.

I don't think the land raiders and storm ravens make as much sense, but also dont see it mattering that much.

Of the different types of Primaris Marines, i'm not even sure I would want any of them in transports anyway. The Interceptors will drop in, the Hellblasters will walk, and the Intercessors seem pretty terrible so will probably not see much play. I suppose it would be nice if the HQs could go in transports, but since the rest of a Primaris army can't/wont want to, i dont see it as a big deal.

I'm gonna take a guess that we can expect MOST of the Primaris/Death guard releases in time for the Koroner campaign

I have read recently that the rules for new models will be in their respective kits first, and then will be in their Codexes (Codices?) as well.

Until we get the Repulsor you are indeed stuck to footslog them. No doubt Primaris will get 4-5 kit in a very soon future so this won't be an issue for long.

I will not be surprised if GW doesn't release anything new for any "legacy" faction besides codex or stat update. The truth is most of them are already complete and don't need anything more. Making plastic kit could be doable but then they are probably thinking to sell a new model will always bring better profit than a model everyone owns already in either plastic, metal or finecast.

Meanwhile, you can sell a brand new full/sub-factions with brand new models and everyone has to buy a bunch of them to build a new army.
