Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Fyi: pathfinders can't fire both their markerlights and their carbines; only vehicles can fire other weapons if they fire their markerlights.

No worries on that front, as much as I'm loving seeing factions on the table again in 8th, the core game itself needs some faqing badly. Ff anything it highlights just how awesome 30k is. You'll be seeing more 30k batreps for sure.

good game. Yeah, there are some goods and bads but it's better than flying invisible ruins.

Any thoughts on the increased wounds in the game? Does it flow well in terms of damage vs increased durability? One of the concerns I have with the previews of this edition is wound spam making it feel like you're perenially just chipping away at the big stuff.

Yeah but I think it's important to remember that a lot of the problems with 7th were faction based and not always in the core book. And really it was combining factions and or taking silly formations that really did 7th in.

I think in all honesty the granularity is great for a "reset" but all they've done is change a game about thresholds for a big silly gradient and random damage output. There's still plenty of reliable brutality in stripping wounds but all seems a lot stupider, especially wth konga cover lines and vindicators shooting from their tracks and so on. There's no doubt big things are durable and you need to pack weaponry to deal with them but the difference between having fly and not is basically everything sadly.

I think it's the random damage that most reinforces the chipping away at wound spam. Having a lascannon do d6... meaning effectively the same as a lasgun that can now wound everything on a roll of a 1... feels too swingy as does the keeping of completely random charges. Vindicators shooting from their tracks is indeed ridiculous but not less so than wraithlords having all their weapons mounted on one toe because that is the part sticking out... and we've had that for as long as I've been playing (3rd edition). It's at least parity. Fully random damages for certain heavy weapons feels about as good of an idea as random wound totals. The randomness is plentiful already and should stay in the hit/wound/save roll system. Heck I'd be fine with d3x2 instead. YMMV.

TBH I'm looking forward to a lot of the things you guys mentioned in your video that you're concerned about to be fixed if not by GW FAQ, but by ITC-esque community rulings.

I'm all in favor of simplicity but only when what the player ends up doing matches the action/context.

Don't forget you have command points to re-roll those d6.

CP are giving way more for this potentially high damage weapons rather than to multishot mid str weapons.
