New BioWare IP. I'm gonna wait to see more but it looks like they said "Hey Destiny. We saw what you did there...nice try."

Man, that looks so good.

Then again, so did Destiny. I'm with you, let's wait and see.

It looks incredible. Shame it's a giant co-op game.

Oh wow, a generic sci-fi shooter with generic sci-fi armour designs, generic over the shoulder shooting and "players" playing the game and totally not reading up recorded lines while showing off the game?

Only thing that would make it even better if it was a console exclusive..

Sigh they sacrificed Mass Effect Andromeda for a destiny clone that seems to take too much from attack on titan and titanfall.

No wonder the first memes are along the lines of "destiny 2 assault on titanfall"

Nothing strikes out as particularly impressive, mech designs are generic, plot so far seems generic, the feel it gives is way too generic for coop 3rd person shooters, even the loot generation and the grind (and grind avoidance monetisation) it hints in that scene.

Deeply not impressed and saddened a game that tried to do something "newish" from a much beloved IP was sacrificed for this thing.

I'm torn on this. On one hand, I love what Bioware do, their approach to making games and worlds appeals to me more than pretty much any other developer out there and most of their games rank among my favourites (yes, even Andromeda!) so I have some faith they can make something good here, but I don't see how that design ethos of creating complex characters, massive, lore-rich worlds and vast, branching narratives can translate to an open world co-op shooter...

I'm willing to be convinced that they've pulled it off when I see more, but so far, this looks like it might be damn good for what it is (visually, it's pretty bloody pretty!), but not my cup of tea at all and not what I expected/hoped for from Bioware's A Team. Given they said it was going to be an action game, and after that first trailer with the mechs and monsters, I was expecting something like a Horizon Zero Dawn type thing with Bioware's narrative-y, choice-y trappings over the top, not a generic-though-very-shiny 3rd person co-op shooter.

Dont get me wrong, it looks good and will most likely be fun

But Screwing over the Fans of one of (if not, then the Most) your Popular Franchises just for a New IP that is Destiny 2: Attack on Titanfall (Iron Man Edition)?

Look at the Gameplay Trailer, its the same Engine as ME:A, yet looks 10x Better and doesnt have Poor Facial Animation.

I think it looks really cool, and I'm sure it'll be fun, but yeah it sucks that they coulda made ME4 that good, and didn't. I'm sure I'll pick it up though, but lately I've been trying to force myself to wait a year or so for bigger games, then you usually can get all of the DLCs included for a cheaper price.

Looks good. Certainly better than yet another mario game or yet another call of duty game or yet another blah blah blah game.

The voice acting is so fake though. Of the "players", I mean, for the gameplay footage. They should have just let the ambient game noise go instead.

The voice acting gives the tone of the game and delivered the most important information about the tone and feel of the game, the "players" disregard the lore, are more interested in exploration and the loot, the player conversation also delivered information about how the quest is delivered and how it awards rewards how grindy the game is expected to be both as xp and as loot and is quite honest and self aware of how the game will be played by its players.

The only question it generated to me because it had the player reply in the npc conversation and not a dialogue wheel is if the game will have voice activated dialogue or if they skipped this part because it is not ready (as for example party summoning at the end is done off screen).

The reason why this is done in such a fake manner is logical the trailer would need to be beeped or not seen for most major out of gaming news sites limiting its exposure outside of gamers, same reason why CCP "faked" the player dialogues in the first few videos trying to show player experiencing the game (they realised later that their niche game does not benefit from that and went with raw footage on later trailers).

Well you can tell it's fakey voice acting instead of voice chat, because anyone who's voice chatted more than once knows all you ever hear is sneezing, coughing, chewing, muffled gangstarap, babies crying and mom's yelling at their kids to finish their homework or they will shut the game off.

Mostly swearing, complains about grinding, bugs and conversation irrelevant to the game in my experience.

But it was never the question if the voice acting was faked and scripted, the discussion was if it should be there or not, I say it should be there, for the reasons mentioned above, plus it is portrayed as a social game and social aspects must be illustrated on the gameplay showcase and it is logical it is faked and scripted, because the real thing would not feel good for what this was, an e3 presentation for the press.

While it is true the press have the attention span of a gerbil on a sugar high and a concussion at the same time, it still made me cringe a bit. I mean there's things on E3 that made me cringe far more, but still.

I will say, the game itself looks pretty damn good.

Wildlands did it better, they just let a pack of tubers play the game and tool around with it, which was more chaotic, but a much better way of showing off the game than having a few folks in a sound booth with fists of the publisher way up their asses reading lines like that.

Reminds me of that other Tom Clancy team shooter, that one also had those horrible phoned in deliveries of people "playing" the game.

The Division?

And yeah, pre-scripted 'casual' game chat almost always sounds awful.

Apparently the guy who was in charge of the story for Baldurs Gate (I and II), Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect is in charge of the story for this so there is hope.

Yeah, he left in 2012 but came back and has helped out a bit on SWTOR but was, as it turns out, heading up the story/writing for Anthem.

Hopefully, unlike destiny, the story will be in the game.

Who knows handling story elements in such a game is a difficult juggle, it will be interesting to see how they will attempt to tackle the many difficult choices.

So far we know they are not on earth, that much I assumed, I wonder how they will tackle player death in game, clones like eve? or mystical power like Destiny? could be a mix of both I guess, they stated for sure they go for soft sci fi so anything is possible.

No kidding. The story behind how it ended up that way is fairly interesting though.

It's a little sad that the story behind destiny losing its story is more interesting than destiny's actual story.
