Finally, the new 40K has arrived! 8th edition looks very promising, hopefully next week I have my 1st game.
I have not really played 40K since 5th edition (really did not like the direction the rules were taking).

I was also very curious about the new Marines. So without any further blah blah, here is my 1st Primaris Marine.

Primaris Intercessor Brother Marine of the the 2nd company, 7th squad.

Right out of the box, only the head is an old Mk VI “Beaky” helmet. There was a lot of talk about head swaps, so I wanted to try it.
The Primaris are great minis, but are rather static, they are not as pose able as the older plastic Space Marine kits. Even the shoulder pads are fixed!

And the always asked for comparison picture:

Tanith Guardsman, Primaris Marine, Grey Knight and Eldar Ulthwe Guardian.

and as always more on my site: http://www.adpublishing.de/html/space_marines.html

Looks great. The grey knight certainly looks puny in comparison.

Yup, suddenly Space Marines have the size that was always described in the fiction.

Nice work Agis, and always nice to see a beaky helmet.

Great stuff. I'm pleased to see the older helmet marks fit on Primaris, as I plan on doing a few as upscaled traditional marines.

great work, thank you for the size comparison.
like you said, this is the size that they should have been all along.

I wonder if MK III Shoulder Guards fit on Primaris Space Marine models.

It is good to see the MK VI Helmet works on the giant marine models.

The Blood Angels paint scheme looks 2nd Edition Perfect & Ready! The free hand &/or water slide transfers look great!

I expect the 'proper' release of Primaris Marines will have more flexibility.

Its a starter kit. They are always static in the starter boxes. They will definitely be more flexible in terms of posing once boxes are released.

Shoulder pads would fit, the minis are however more or less static, no separate shoulder pads.
The BA symbol is a transfers out of the box with some dark grey painted in.

And the second one, another minor conversion.
This time I swapped the head for a Blood Angel again, I also added another pouch pack with gold droplet, a droplet to the right shoulder pad and a chalice to his right gauntlet.

And since some asked about a pic with a terminator...

As much as I dislike the Primaris as a concept (not sold on models either), you've done them very well. Cetainly you've actually given them some identiy with very subtle additions from other kits. Much better than the official BA examples which have been seen, those are very plain.

You've always delivered, and now is no exception. Great stuff. I also plan to change up the starter box marines with additions from other kits. Glad to see the heads are so compatible.

Great job, Agis ! Really love the shade of red you got there.

Saw the thread title, got excited thinking maybe you'd gone the Clone Trooper/Republic Commando route for them color wise.

They look great in any case. Hope you enjoy your first game!

Really curious how the new rules work out.. Christian from Battlefield Berlin sounded really positive. So please share what you think as well !
And heyho - they actually brought the Movement Stat back ! How long has _that_ been ?

Would love to pick up `ye ol`dice for a game or two...fitting as I also I just picked up the paintbrushes after some years of hiatus

3rd Primaris, Ancient with Banner. Another minor conversion. Again a head swap, extra grenades and a wing on the right shoulder pad.
With this model some extra effort was used, hopefully it shows.

It's a stunning model. You've done a great job.

I think the new mold looks markedly more to scale when placed near other models as you've done. I like the new weapon design as well.

IMHO, I think GW would have done better to just market these new casts as a complete re-design of the Space Marine lineup. I understand that not everyone is able or willing to repurchase all their models but I would happily buy a few new 10-man squads of these fellows if they came with all the wargear options to be true replacements for my current tactical squads.

Unfortunately GW can't seem to help themselves and I have to wonder how many boys and girls they hired to thumb through the dictionaries and thesauri before settling on 'Primaris'... must have run out of creative uses for the 'Ultra' prefix.

...

I fully expect over the next years a complete overhaul of the 40K range.
We'll see.

My 1st game was fun today, it is still 40K, but way more streamline than the previous two Editions.
Move values, Saves modifiers - all back and it feels good.
I also like the freedom you have to chose your force, even in matched Play.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your first game. I still remain cautiously optimistic about this entire edition. I like some of the changes and dislike others, time will time if this nets an overall positive or not. They broke an awful lot of eggs to make this particular omelet.

Still, you make a compelling case for these Primaris models with your incredible artwork. Kudos!
