Left the hobby about a year ago and looking to get back into it.

Not too sure on the rules but from the models I do have it looks like I'll be focusing on Blood Angels for the time being (and if I do it right, only them until further notice). My friends (who are also getting back into it) are looking to start small so we can build up our armies and not needlessly splash cash. We're also not fussed much about Power Levels at this time.

That said, this is a small 500 list I made. I've gone with a simple Outrider Detachment even if the Patrol Detachment seems more appropriate at this points level. I kinda wanted to be fluffy with the Assault Marines so yeah.

HQ
Sanguinary Priest w/ Jump Pack, 2x Lightning Claws = 99

FA
5x Assault Marines w/ 2x Flamers = 98
10x Assault Marines w/ 1x Eviscerator, Sergeant w/ Eviscerator = 204
3x Scout Bike Squad with 2x Astartes Grenade Launcher = 99

Total = 500

My plan is to have the Assault Marines split up, one goes with the Sanguinary Priest and is the 'CC' unit while I get to grips with the new edition. The other half has the Sergeant (for the extra attack) and Eviscerator and are heavy target models. Other Assault group is Flamers because I have those models. Filled up the rest of the points with Scout Bikers for S6 and mobility.

Thoughts? I'm sure there is a better way to optimise this list. Maybe even cut the Lightning Claws for Power Sword and splash the Assault Sergeant with Meltabombs/Combat Shield? Not too sure how Grenades work in this edition (if they even work in CC).

Thanks for any advice!

Priest hits on a 2+. Because of that, I always go either Thunder Hammer or Power Fist as you'll be hitting on 3s.

I think 2 Eviscerators in a squad is overkill. Give the 5 man squad a power weapon since they'll see close combat as you'll need to be in close to use those Flamers. No grenades in close combat anymore.

I'd maybe go something like this.

Sanguinary Priest (1) - 106pts
1 Sanguinary Priest: Bolt pistol,Power fist,Jump Pack

Assault Squad (5) - 107pts
1 Space Marine Sergeant: Power sword,Bolt pistol,Melta bombs,Jump Pack
2 Space Marine: Flamer,Jump Pack
2 Space Marine: Bolt pistol,Chainsword,Jump Pack

Assault Squad (10) - 186pts
1 Space Marine Sergeant: Eviscerator,Combat shield,Jump Pack
9 Space Marine: Bolt pistol,Chainsword,Jump Pack

Scout Bike Squad (3) - 99pts
1 Scout Biker Sergeant: Bolt pistol,Astartes shotgun,Combat knife,Twin boltgun
2 ScoutBiker: Bolt pistol,Astartes shotgun,Combat knife,Astartes grenade launcher

498 Points

i would recommend this:
Rhino 70
- 2xStormbolter 4
Razorback 65
- Twin Assault Cannon 35
- Stormbolter 2
Corbulo 94
Assault Marines (5) 65
- PowerSword, flamer 12
Assault Marines (5) 65
- PowerSword, flamer 12
Assault Marines (5) 65
- PowerMaul, Plasma Pistol 11

500

Advantages:

Only 2 units to deploy (likely to gain you first turn)
More resilient (more HP, and more toughness, and more armor)
More supporting firepower (Twin AC makes 12 shots Str 6, rend 1, + 3 Stormbolters)
More attacks ( Corbulo generates 5 more attacks for every 6 you roll on a hit with a 5 man unit)

That's not how it works. Corbulo generates 1 attack per 6 rolled with the weapon that rolled the 6. Not one for every model in the unit.
