Hi guys,

I'm planning to create a British WW1 themed Astra Militarum army, so I'm saving up my cash to get the conversion bits, models etc. To perhaps blog it, and to show off my thoroughly mediocre skills at painting and converting....

So anyway, here is the list, please critique, but bear in mind this army is fluffy, rather than competitive based! This list will also be expanded, but this is the "goal" for the time being...

Too many Vox casters for the number of orders you can give out. Otherwise it looks pretty good. Maybe drop some off the Vox to buy heavy weapons for the remaining infantry squads.

Hmm... never thought about that, I was planning to use the 2 platoons without a HWT in the Chimeras as a mobile wall/overwatch soaker for the other units, but having some extra firepower is always good.

Would you suggest removing their Vox casters and 1 from the other squads to give 2 extra HWT?

Maybe dropping sponson weapons from Russes, could give you more heavy bolters for infantry squads.

I see a lot of shots but not much to deal with high wound models outside of the russes. Even then the russes aren't that terrific at it. I'd switch the HWT heavy bolters and hull lascannons around. Then you can get orders on the lascannons and they won't start to become crapshots once you take damage. Plus only Russ turret weapons ignore movement penalty on heavy weapons :/

I also don't feel grenade launchers, plasma all the way. Maybe if they were cheaper, like 3pts. But you've got lots of dakka anyway.

Flamers on the rough riders wouldn't be amiss.

Edit, to pay for it, drop some voxes and some power swords on the commissars. They're their more for their buffs than attacks

What's the plan with this list, Who do you intend to go in the Chimeras?

By the way in your amended list you've got the point values for your last two infantry squads wrong, flamers are 7 pts each.

The plan with the list is to just be a "bit of everything" that can be added to for specific opponent's or changed if I don't like something. My aim is to then add to it, in case I don't like something or I want to try new things etc.

Thanks for the catch, I forgot to change them to grenade launchers. The two Vox-less squads are to go into the Chimeras as a sort of rapid response force. I'm not expecting them to survive, but if they hold a flank for 1-2 turns, it will help.

Ok, I'd switch out one of your Commissars for a Junior Officer with a Plasma Pistol to ride in the ride in the Chimera's with the lads. His ability to issue orders will come in very useful, doubling las shots is not something to be sneezed at. This'd give you ten more points; you could then buy two heavy stubbers for your vehicles and upgrade one grenade launcher for a plasma gun, switch five grenade launchers for plasma guns (which due to "take aim" can be reliably supercharged) or one grenade launcher for a melta gun.

I don't know if in what configuration you are planning to use the infantry squads (I mean who goes on which transport) but with so many characters it wouldn't be a bad idea imo to have a company command squad with medic/vox caster/ regimental standard (maybe you don't need this but it looks cool and you can bubble wrap some dudes with it's useful +1 ld)/1(or 2 if you didnt pick option no.3) plasma guns. The whole package costs 56 points (with regimental) or 58 with 2 plasmas. you can overcharge the plasmas and if you happen to fail a roll you can bring him back on a 4+. Or restore wounds on your likely_to_be_damaged_cc_oriented commies and officers (assuming you WANT them to fight in glorious close combat :p ).
Lastly you can do something hilarious like a commissar executes a man in the head for cowardice and then the medic squad comes by (4+ passed) and he gets back up!
