Here is my list for my Space Wolves Dreadnought list:

Vanguard Detachment:
Bjorn the Fellhanded with twin linked lascannon

5 Venerable Dreadnoughts with Fenrisian Great axe and frost shield

1 Murderfang

Razorback with Twin Lascannon, Storm Bolter

Razorback with Twin Lascannon, Storm Bolter

Whirlwind with Castellan Missles

Outrider Detachment
IronPriest on Bike (standard equipment)

1 Cyber Wolf
1 Cyber Wolf
1 Cyber Wolf

1 Eversor Assassin

Outrider Detachment
IronPriest on Bike (standard equipment)

1 Cyber Wolf
1 Cyber Wolf
1 Cyber Wolf

1 Vindicare Assassin

So a total 7 command points (1 for each detachment, 3 standard and 1 for Bjorn)

The Plan:

If am against an army with deep strike tricks (especially with melta) then the cyber wolves to stop any immediate turn 1 threats, if there are none then they hide behind the Razorbacks to jump out and get objectives.

The Venerables are front and centre marching forward absorbing firepower and taking out armour and elite units in combat, popping smoke and generally being a nightmare to deal with.

The Murderfang is just behind charging the target I want to kill the most ASAP.

The Razorbacks are behind my assault dreadnoughts and form a sort of bodyguard for Bjorn early on as they blase away with Lascannons.

Cyber Wolves other than deep stike denial are distraction units that look for late game objective snatching.

The Whirlwind is target big hordey units but it is to generally shoot targets that hide out of line of sight.

The Eversor Assassin is to get a charge off as soon as possible (turn 1) and then kill/tie up a key unit early on and then be as annoying as possible.

The Vindicare is to shoot annoying buff characters.

Changes I may consider:

Is the Murderfang worth it I can save quite a few points by switching to another Venerable.

Is the Vindicare worth it? May I be better of with a Callidus to go character hunting?

I could go LasPlas on the Razorbacks and use Bjorn's Last of the company of russ rule to reroll 1's (still think this is still risk on a Razorback)

Forgive me, I haven't fully read all the rules yet(especially the detachment stuff). But is this list battle forged? Where are you troops? I have always loved Bjorn and Murderfang and the axe and shield dreads of the spacewolves. But in 7th they died so quickly. I am so ready to run a list with some dreads, so I was happy to find your post.

You don't need troops anymore. The Vaguard Detachment is 1 HQ and 3 Elites for its req. They have similar Detachments for Fast Attack and Heavy Support as well.

Troops are actually really worthwhile in 8th edition, planting some Grey Hunters between the Dreads slows them down a tad but walk an Iron Priest with them and you have one nasty DreadStar.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

KSA

What happens if you have a lot of ruins/buildings? Your opponent just hides in them on the upper floors and all your dreds are sat round twiddling their axes

I found this in a game recently where I had a thunderwolf heavy list. I just got picked off as I couldn't get them :-/

Thunderwolves can go up floors. It's bikes and vehicles that can't.
