Hey Everyone!

Nova here with a special guest post for White Metal Games ! Be sure to check out their new patreon page where they will be posting tons of kit bashed conversions just like this!

I was very excited for the opportunity to work on this build as Orks are very near and dear to me, so here is a quick look at the Killa Kommando, aka Kan King, aka Breacher Bucket... Still working out the name, but you get the point! I'll be sure to post more pictures as progress is made (better quality once I can get my other camera to focus properly!).

Better pics incoming!

So just a quick note on this build. I was really trying to push some boundaries and work with methods I have never used before (primarily with greenstuff). I wound up buying some new sculpting tools and, boy, did they make a difference! I also broke out my heat gun to warp the styrene at the base to give a crushing impact kind of look, but I may wind up hitting it again to really make it feel like the model is just crushing whatever he's landing on. still have some detail work to do and need to build boosters on the Claw, but overall i'm feeling pretty good about this one.

Last thing - I know it's small but my favorite part about this was the frayed wiring in the second pic. took a while to figure it out but I was really happy with how it came out

Hope you all enjoy!

While it's looking really great, something about the pose is off to me.

The off-foot should be forward. At present, it's about to fall flat on its face because its thrusting forward off one foot while the other is splayed out behind.

Short of adding a jetpack to explain the exploding-forward motion, it doesn't quite work.

Other than that, though, the design and detail are amazing. Good job!

Thanks guys!

I know exactly what you mean with the back leg. It's weird because I was going for a look as if he is just about to thrust off with the right leg with a lot of momentum behind him to justify the forward lean, but it may not have translated as well as I wanted. I've also found that looking at it irl vs the pictures seems to make more sense on the pose, but that's just something that I'll need to work on to help the effect come through on future builds.

I wound up getting a base coat of rust down so I could try out the chipping effect with the Vallejo chipping medium and really liked what I had come up with

Not feeling the red so much here but i'm hoping I can create some clearer division between the rust and red paint. In retrospect, I think a blue color would have been a little better on this guy to help the rust come through a little more.

Finished!

All said and done this guy was a lot of fun. I got to try out a bunch of new techniques and work with the airbrush for something other than base coating. What do you guys think? I'm up for any constructive criticism- always trying to improve where I can!

One other thing - This guy is going to be raffled off on White Metal Games patreon page. Not exactly sure when it's going to go up on their page but the raffle tickets will be only $2.00 a pop!

Thanks KD!

Attack / faceplant mode depending on the angle you look at it. I ran around my house in front of my wife saying "see! When I land, my leg is out like this!".
