So these rules are written as so:
"Make X hit rolls for each attack made with this weapon, instead of 1."
X differing depending on the weapon.

So does this mean:
1. The model makes multiple to hit rolls for each attack and as long as one of the die is a hit then the attack hits once.
OR
2. The model can make multiple attacks for each attack made with the weapon like 3 attacks for each attack with Titanic Feet.

I read it as:

you have say 3 attacks if it gives you 3 rolls you roll nine dice to hit although you have 3 attacks

if you loose an attack for whatever reason you'd then roll 6 to hit etc

Where is this rule question from? What book for reference please (including pg. number).

Assuming you quoted directly from the text and not just added "air quotes" to make it sound official... remember algebra? Every time you make an attack, instead of making 1 attack, you make X attacks. For example, the model has 3 Attacks on the stat profile. When it makes an attack with this special weapon, it makes 3 attacks for every 1 attack listed on the stat line. In this case, X=3. It's written this way because you can now allocate attacks with whatever weapon your model is armed with. If you have three weapons, you could make 1 attack with each weapon, or 2 attacks with one weapon, 1 attack with another weapon, and no attacks with the third weapon. In this example, the model could make 3 "base" attacks and 0 special attacks, or 1 "base" attack, and 6 special attacks (X=3), or 0 base attacks and 9 special attacks, or 2 base attacks and 3 special attacks.

So far it seems that the model would essentially get a multiple of more attacks depending on the weapon. I think this was also the intended ruling but why they worded the rule with more hit rolls rather than more attacks is beyond me.

You do indeed get multiple potential hits from each attack with the weapon. If it helps, think of it as "Melee 4” in the same way as you can have an "Assault 4" gun. Remember that each individual Attack on the profile can potentially be allocated to a different melee weapon if you have enough of them.
As for why it doesn't just give you extra Attacks, it's probably something to do with preventing people from trying to use those extra bonus attacks with a different melee weapon. It's not necessarily the cleanest wording but there you go.

Also, IIRC, Arco-Flagellants (I: I 2) Arco-Flails generate bonus rolls to hit too, but a variable number.

so is this still the case? titanic feet, flais etc triple your attacks?

it only says you roll 3 hit rolls (increasing the accuracy).

Did you really need to bring up a thread from 10 months ago? You roll 3 dice and get 3 hits, that means you get 3 wounds, etc.

If something has 3 attacks, and a weapon that says "roll 3 hit dice for each attack made with this weapon" you essentially get 9 attacks, because each hit roll generates it's own roll to wound.

No because it's obvious to everyone except you what it means.
