For those of you who play Deep Wars by AntiMatter Games, how complex is it? I've watched some battle reports and it seems on par with Malifaux due to the number of abilities for each model.

Do you enjoy the game, and why? Does it have unusual balance issues, or is it a good time overall no matter what you are fielding in the briny deep?

I have not played Deep Wars but I have played the game it is based on, Song of Blades and Heroes. The most on-point review I can give you is, I like Song of Blades and Heroes enough to have purchased Deep Wars. (Although I have to say, I also really like some of the DW minis.)

At its core, SOBAH is a very straight-forward game. As you note, each fig is mostly defined by their special abilities as opposed to a statline (there are only two stats). Some people really dislike this and I concede that it can be tough to keep up with all the abilities if you are playing with more than a handful of figs.

As for balance - that is really a matter of the stat blocks specific to DW than SOBAH itself. From what I have seen in batreps, there is some amount of synergy implicit in the army lists but not to the degree of something like Infinity or WMH.

Many thanks for the feedback. Due to financial cautions I passed on the KS, but I truly hope the game continues to grow.
It not being available on Miniature Market or War Store is something they need to remedy, however.
