Hi Dakka,
I already own two blogs, one for my Imperial Guard and one for my Emperor's Children, but this one is meant to be the blog for eveything else !
I have some marines to paint, some assassins, some Inquisition...
I won't do a blog for so few things, so I did one for all these things together.
Today we have a wip Assassinorum Execution Force !
So here they are:

Vindicare:

Hi there !
Eventually, something new for you !
This time, I tried a different style, a bit more «blanchitsu».
I don't think I really succeeded, but I really like him. I have several more Inquisition models to paint (Necromunda and a Dark Heresy campaign in the near future).
Sorry for the pictures I can't do better for the moment.
So, what do you think about him ?
(Not based because I am waiting for the GW urban bases)

A new acolyte for the band (I really enjoyed this model, he has a lot of character).

The band is getting bigger every day !
However, it doesn't work as well on her as on the acolyte, I think.

Thanks ! I agree, the psyker turned out very very well, I don't know why, even in real life, not only in pictures.

Eventually, I have somehting new for this blog too. Trying to get more styles, and being in love with the grimdark stuff of Inquisimunda, I took my first steps outside the "classic" Eavy metal style and here are the first results:
Achromatic Escher
Here is the inspiration:

My two first attempts at desaturated painting (really love this, I may try to do my Escher gang this way):
They are just paint scheme tests, not great painting, but I am happy with the conversions and the paint, so

In addition, this technique is really easy and quick to do ! Paint it black and white, wash the white, then highlight it, then drybrush the black and voila !
Do you think I should try more / different models with it ? I'll try monochromatic too

With the discovery of Inquisimunda blogs and fb pages, Blackstone fortress and after reading some Inquisition stuff, I tried to convert some inquisition warband. I am not a great conversion maker, more a painter, so those are my biggest ones and almost first attempt after the two first attempt earlier in this blog. I am not used to show WIP but I won't have anything to show before a LONG time due to my job and my studies so... What could I do better ? Crusaders: Henchmen My brother gifted my these two little pieces of love (they are in a perfect shape with all the bitz even if they are not showing in the picture), that I'll post in my GI blog once they will be painted, one day: However they have been primed with White, I have never painted a model primed in white. Is it different than a black primed model ?

And now for the evolution of godardc's painting skills / style through the years !
I have began painting at about 15, and I can tell you, some things better stay hidden haha
However, years after years I began better, copying what I saw on the internet and taking inspiration and learning tutorial and ofc, getting experience.
By now I'm really happy with how far I have gotten, so it's time for a rewind !
At first I was very afraid of washing my models, I wasn't sure of how to do it and I was thinking painting the whole mini would destroy all my work.
The veterans marines are the first to be fully based, washed and highlighted. But the base and the paintscheme weren't great anyway.
The chapter master is really when everything went up.
After having done the veterans, I knew washes worked and how to do it. I painted two armies for my friends, and got plenty of experience.
However I wasn't happy with my gold at all (you can see it on the terminator) and decided to really learn better technics from painters online.
I'm still happy with him. I think it's my first model with FW parts too
The Imperial Guard was my first "modern army", by that I mean I started it with the knowledge and the will to make it the best I could using all the technics I could, including better bases.
Very happy with them, technics and paint scheme wise.
But the camo and the highlights took ages.
After this army, I felt confident enough to finally paint my assassins and to begin several projects like my Inquisition one: I was wanted to define a style, using only a small selection of paints. I think it was a success. Or Necromunda (first mini using battle damages, but maybe you can't see it).
And finally my EC army, using I think it's called glazes and inks to make a metallic purple and finally getting pure white and different technics such as for the glasse bottles of the apothecary.
I came a long way !
A few comparisons of old an newer:
If the two soldiers are I think equal I term of achievement, the Elysian one was painted using drybrush: a HUGE improvement in time for highlighting ! And no dot camo. And the visor or the helmet is really better. I like the neutral base, painted brown instead of black too.
And a few experimentations, one already shown here next to my first NMM attempt

After months away from home, I'm finally back to the painting desk !
I have had this librarian for several years now but I just assembled and painted him this weekend. The base isn't done but I won't have what I need to finish it before long so calling him done for now.

I like the Elysian. The dry brushing looks good, not too “dusty” like it can sometimes turn out. Maybe I should have tried that on my Elysians. Because painting them with highlighting is such slow going, they discontinued the army on me while I was just getting going!

I painted a second elysian squad ! The mortars may be done before my game this weekend, too.
I highlighted the guns with a drybrush this time but it doesn't stand out very well on the pictures
Overall I did these ones quicker than the previous ones but there is no significant drop in quality I would say. I think you could say which ones had a drybrush on the guns and which ones didnt if you had them in hand, but that's all.

60 more Cadians to come hopefully Contrast speeds that up !
Contrast was...okay on the weaponry, I think it works better on the guys. I should have used a different green though I think. But it's the Creed one !

Indeed, I agree. That's why I changed my green for the militarum one, and I thinks it's way better.
So here is my first officer and he settles the paint scheme for the next 60 cadian to come:
I want them to look good, at least not bad, while quite being fast to paint. I'm happy with the balance on this one.
But "one thick coat" seems definitely like a myth, as you can see he is a bit...light. I'm currently doing another one with two thin coats, I think it looks better (but then it's more time consuming than advertised).
And here is the second one, with a comparison of the two:

You can actually see the fully painted Escher in the Showcase section of the forum, in the "Borderland/cartoony painted Escher" thread.
Today I want to show you some these scenery (stormtrooper for scale):
3d printed and freely gifted by my FLGS ! For each 10€ spent there, you get one point and every scenery has a point value (I think it's 6 for the electric generator for example). This is in addition to the 10% off of the price they do in the store, so I think it's pretty nice.
As you can see the details are really good enough for scenery.
Just wanted to show you some 3d printed stuff as I think it's interesting.
He said he uses a 900€ printer and the biggest scenery, the tank took about 30h to print.

Here it is:
It comes from having collected space marines for 15 years, probably from a tactical squad boxe or something similar.
