Edit 01/08/17: Coopting this thread for my personal AoS chaos stuff.

SLAMBO comes to chuck axes and inappropriately invade your personal space. And to lead a Chaos warband I'm making. Really enjoyed the odd colour and shiny work on the armour, so I'm starting to lean toward undivided or Tzeentchy chaos for the new stuff, and leave my Nurgle to the Oldhammer...

If you're unfamiliar with this new version of Slambo, note that's a 40mm base he's on. He's fricken' ENORMOUS. This is not your granddaddy's scalecreep, son.

All I can say is wow! Can you share the colours you used for that brilliantly layered blue?

Sure, VMC = Vallejo Model Color, VGC = Vallejo Game Color.

Base mix of VGC Heavy Blackgreen, VMC Dark Prussian Blue, VMC Black.

Layer up with mixes of that and GW Kabalite Green.

Glaze back shadows with original base mix.

Layer up adding VMC Emerald Green

Futher highlights VMC Emerald Green and VGC Dead White mixes.

Extremes with stronger white mix, hotspots with almost pure white.

Switching between mixes to adjust highlights as I went.

This is rank and file, just do a nice tabletop job, I said. You've got loads of these to do, and actual work to do, I said. Ah well, thank goodness for Skirmish, eh?

I love these man, and the extra sword for the chaos warriors back is such a nice touch.

And yes, Skirmish has made me actually paint again LOL. I'm just too old for 40 Bloodletters.

You've inspired the final thoughts on my Tzeentch Skirmish warband. I'll work on the other 5 first -- variety is the spice of life.
Thanks for the blue recipe, totally mimicking it soon.

Nice slaughterpriest! Gorechosen is loads of fun and probably GW's best bang for your buck!

The Gorechosen ones are about 8-10 hours each, Slambo around 12 hours. The chaos warrior about the same in this instance, but a lot of that was procrastinating. Batched I think warriors to that standard would roll in at about 5-6 hours each, average.

Boys in black get a combo shot. Timing on the warriors actually does roll in at about 4.5 hours each, having found a nice method for the black.

Very impressive for 4.5 hours each. Pulled off the classic look perfectly.
They will definitely make a glorious addition to your war host

Got a sorceror done. Liked the stock scheme, so pretty much ran with it. Quick work, nothing too fancy. Usual back-blend over rough highlights for the robe.

Black undercoat. Highight up with VMC field grey (a dark blue-grey). Glaze back with VMC black. Edges with VMC blue grey. Tighter extremes with VMC pale bluegrey. Final tight extremes/hotspots with VMC palebluegrey / VMC white mix.

this is beautifully done. you've really nailed the classic chaos look. it would be great to see your take on some of GW's older miniatures given how well your style would fit them.

that's incredible! I had no idea that both projects were yours. that Nurgle thread has been at the back of my mind for a while now as inspiration along with weirdingway's navigators.
