Be better if the people who vote also provide a comment -- it is a discussion board after all.

Ideally those who vote would be those who've read/bought the magazine, but we can't really enforce that so keep your internet poll broomstick of skepticalness ... ? ? ..... or whatever to hand when reviewing the results.

be extra handy if you could say which bits you really did/didn't like, what you'd like tweaked or added and so forth.

White Dwarf Preview

The latest White Dwarf is nearly upon us, and with it a raft of great hobby content, from battle reports to tutorials and exclusive previews. We were lucky enough to get a look at July’s issue before it goes on sale – here’s what you can expect.

Firstly, there’s a great look at the new releases for Warhammer 40,000, namely the new Primaris Space Marine heroes and Getting Started sets. You may remember these from our reveal – this is your chance to get up-close and personal with the new sets. You’ll also get to see Open War cards for the first time – we’ll have more information about these soon!

There’s also an in-depth interview with the Citadel Design team – the guys that make all the miniatures you know and love. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to make the best fantasy miniatures in the world or want some valuable insights into our design process, it’s well worth a read.

If you’re getting stuck in with the new Warhammer 40,000, this month’s White Dwarf is your comprehensive guide to the new edition, starting with our first Tactica Imperialis – a monthly guide to strategy in the new Warhammer 40,000. We’re starting where your army will – at the list building stage – with a rundown of how datasheets and army special rules work. This is a great way to get an edge on your opponents in your first few games.

There’s also an intense battle report between the T’au Empire and a pack of loot-hungry Orks led by Kaptin Badrukk – showing off all the new rules in action as two of Warhammer 40,000’s most diametrically opposed factions duke it out among the ruins of an Imperial city.

Painters of all levels can look forward to a huge number of painting guides covering the new releases. Even if you’re not a collector of Death Guard or Ultramarines, there are a wealth of tips to use on your models, from painting rotting flesh en-masse to realistic scrolls and seals for characters. Our favourite is an in-depth guide to painting the face on the Primaris Librarian, right down to bags under his eyes – perfect if you’ve been looking for a unique way to make a character stand out.

Fans of Warhammer Age of Sigmar (or just anything greenskin) will enjoy this month’s Illuminations, which has a closer look at The Art of Waaagh, featuring classic illustrations as well as some awesome new ones, including a huge mob of Ironjawz smashing through a shieldwall of Stormcast Eternals. There’s also a close look at James Karch’s enormous collection of Astral Templars Stormcast Eternals, complete with his guide on painting these boisterous hunters of beasts.

This is just a taste of what’s to come in July’s White Dwarf – we haven’t even covered the half of it! For all the above and much much more, pick up your copy on the 7th of July, or subscribe to guarantee you never miss an issue.

Five for me.

No new rules is disappointing.

Again, as last month, very little that was not all over the internets before this hit the racks. I liked the article on the Realm of Battle boards, though. Even if they are rather pricey...

Still waiting on my copy too. I think i've received my issue on time twice since they transitioned my subscription over from Warhammer Visions to the new White Dwarf. I'd love to see how many people resubscribe once their current subscriptions run out. I know I won't be doing so myself.

My last issue came with a note from them saying they realized that their US distribution was wonky, that they were fixing it, and that I would get two free issues tacked on to my sub.

It was a good step, and one that took me from "no way am I gonna re-up" to "I'll give them time to fix it and then decide."

It is now July 12 and stores have had theirs for 5 days while I wait. This is worrisome, but I still will give them another issue to right the ship.

Yep, still waiting on my July issue. At this point I am anticpating I will be calling GW on Friday to request a replacement as that is the date they consider it to be offically late/lost and is what I have had to do on almost all my issues since the new White Dwarf.

Since they switched to the new mail house, I received May's Issue the day after the shelf date and June's issue on the shelf date. That gave me hope that their mail issues had been largely solved. I realize that there was a holiday (July 4th), but to me it's no excuse as you know when holidays are and can plan, i.e. drop a day early to make sure deliveries are on time as they have no problem making sure that issues for the stores are delievered by Wednesday to make the Friday shelf date.

Even though they extended my subscription now by three issues (one for the debut issue delay and two more recently), I doubt I will renew unless there is even steeper discount since it appears paying a subscription price = do not expect to receive issue near anything considered on time.

So without issue in hand, the best I will score this issue is a 7 (2 off for late delivery, and 1 more off because it is late even though GW said problems should be fixed) and since I would rarely give a 10, it likely will be rated no better than a 6.

I agree. I suspect they are going to see US subscriptions drop to nearly nothing once the initial subscriptions run out, unless they can start getting them to people closer to the release date.

Honestly, it probably shouldn't matter much if I get the magazine a week late, since there isn't really any "news" in most issues that isn't already online. I still get some good inspiration out of each issue regardless of when I get it. But if everyone else you know has already read the issue, or people (in person or online) are already pretty much done discussing it before you even get the issue, that can really ruin the excitement.

Pretty poor for me (although this was flipping through in store rather than buying this month as not enough in it caught me)

5 or 6 at best

they seem to have started to run out of steam from the most recent re-launch (or I've run out of interest again after buying a fair few in a row for the first time in ages)

Still no July White Dwarf, and I doubt my experience is rare. I can't see how it is cost effective for GW to send out a lot of replacement copies for every issue.

I thought it was excellent - particularly the art, and the long section about the miniatures designers, what they'd worked on, how they approach it etc. Very enjoyable.

The new40k bits I mostly skim read as I already know how to play it... but I can understand why they were there.

I really enjoyed this month's issue, although I knew a lot of the information from the internet it was much more enjoyable reading it in a magazine. I will try to waste less time on the internet this month so that I spoil the magazine less!

Three battle reports was great (Main, To4W and AoS skirmish) and they were all pretty close, really fun to see the amazing boards they get to play on.

I thought the Blanchitsu was a bit meh after the first pass, but I've re-read the article a couple of times and had a hard look at the models and now I really like them.

I'm glad to see the tactic articles are back, I love the WFB ones from the old White Dwarfs though my Tomb Kings hardly ever got a run out. This one was a basic introduction but still ad some nice tips in it.

Oh and all the Ork pictures were great, although the drop in art quality between the WFB art and AoS is mental!

Overall they see to be really growing into this magazine thing,

Had to call today to tell them that its the 17th and I have not gotten my issue. They will send again express... usual spiel about how they are trying to improve and appreciate my feedback... getting sick of having to call every month.

The wasn't allot to grab my attention in this issue, I felt it was a pretty plain/vanilla issue but I will confess to being really busy with real life things so time to sit down and take it in has been rare.

I did also get a letter from WD asking about renewing my sub, £60 for 12 issues. Not bad; anyone else thinking about this?

Got a letter in the mail asking me to re-subscribe (while still waiting for my July issue...)

Weird thing is, the letter says my last issue is the August issue. I thought we in the US were supposed to be getting our subscriptions extended to make up for the extremely late deliveries of so many issues.

I renewed my subscription this week. 80 EUR for 12 issues sent to your house is fine. After Warhammer Visions which was always 7-14 days late GW changed the distribution company and now we get WD 1-4 days before release. I think the magazine could contain more rules but I enjoyed reading every issue so far. And 6.60 EUR is a fair price for it.
