Hey all,

So me and the buddies I play with are planning a Narrative Campaign. As the pseudo game master, it's fallen under me to come up with the general story and lore for the campaign. Me and another lore/game enthusiast have yet to sit down to hash out the mission special rules and details.

I'd like to share the general story with you all to see what you guys think of what I have so far. The specific characters (most) have yet to be named/flushed out by the respective players playing them.

The campaign is heavily inspired from Miniwargaming's Narrative Campaign style as there will be "episodes" each week (most with two parts) and the events of each battle will greatly influence the story for the next episode. Each episode has 3 corresponding sections: the lore/story setting up the battle, the mission itself, the implications/consequences of the battle's results.

I'm planing to have videos corresponding with each episode with the lore possibly narrated alongside pictures and epic music! The players are: Player 1 (Tau), Player 2 (Imperial Guard/PDF Forces), Player 3 (Blood Angels), Player 4 (Black Templars), Player 5 & 6 (Tyranids and genestealer cult). There will be secrets, betrayals, politics? and a RPG system with player choices and a possible loot system.

Let me know what you guys think!

Into:
The Imperium is split in two by the Great Rift; her worlds isolated and under constant threat by aliens, heretics and worse. The Imperial defenders, the champions of Holy Terra, the Space Marines are stretched thin. Faltering numbers, ever growing enemies, desperation is all that describes this dark time; this Dark Imperium.

The Dolemere planets are just one example of the empire under siege. A long-standing imperial system, this industrial jewel has withstood the millennia of raids, invasions and the corruption of bureaucracy within all Imperial societies. Located in the eastern edge of the Ultima Segmentum, this system comprises of just three worlds, two of which are inhabited by the Imperium’s faithful. Dolemere II is a heavily populated forge world. The home of billions of souls, well defended by Imperial standards, this celestial forge is the newest target for the Tau Empire’s latest strategic expansion.

The Vior’La sept of the Alien Empire, seeks to add the Dolemere system into the fold of their Greater Good. The system’s strategic value goes without saying and after months of attempted diplomacy failed, the Tau struck with immense force…

The Lord General <name here>'s pleads for help from the greater Imperium do not go unanswered. The guardians of humanity, the Adeptus Astartes of the Blood Angles respond; reluctantly sent as their home world is under threat enough. Joined by a small crusading force of the Black Templars, the Blood Angels <number here> company at the head of Captain <name here> come to enact the emperor’s vengeance on the foul xenos and to restore this planet’s production to full value.

And so, the war for the Dolemere sector began. The planets defenders, the invading Tau, and the vengeful space marines all battling for dominance of this great sector all the while unaware of an even greater threat in the shadows…

Episode 1 Part 1:
Lore:
The Blood Angel vessels break through the attacking Tau fleet. Upon the initial assault, they learn that the Black Templars have been mostly destroyed and the survivors shot down over the planet. Under Captain <name here>’s orders, they split into two forces: the primary relief force for the Black Templars and the planets defenders, as well as a splinter group headed by Brother Librarian <name here> to continue the orbital fight.

*Blood Angels Captain <name here> Lore*

The Blood Angels descend onto the world on wings of fire; thunderhawk gunships and drop pods litter the sky as they home in on the last known signal of the Black Templars. They land in the outskirts of one of the major manufactorums of the planet; Syres. The situation bodes ill as they see in the distance the crashed remains of a Black Templar Thunderhawk surrounded by survivors making their last stand. Led by Chaplain <name here>, they lead a desperate but noble defense to the last. Captain <name here> now focuses all of his attention on getting to the Black Templar survivors before they are wiped out and before the Tau Commander realizes his plan…

Rescue mission: Blood Angels attempting to rescue the survivors of the Black Templars.

Implications: Winner prepares an assault on the retreating loser.

Part 2:
Lore:
Elsewhere on the planet, Commander General <name here> is requisitioning his forces for a counter offensive. One of his regiments is vastly under strength as multiple PDF units have yet to report from a specific Hive City. Commander General <name here> dispatches the most senior officer of the under-strength regiment, <rank and name>, to investigate the missing unit’s whereabouts.

*Lord General <name here> Lore*

Company Commander <name and rank here> arrives at the Hive City Emathia. He meets with the senior Mechanicus Adept Xeren, who tells him that the 1st Lieutenant of the PDF garrison was missing from a plunge into the depths of the city for an investigation into a possible Chaos Cult. Commander <name and rank here> gathers his forces and searches for the Lieutenant in the underbelly of the Hive.

Deep underground, Commander <name and rank here> arrives at the side of the dying Lieutenant and deciphers the true nature of the cult; a genestealer cult. Before the Lieutenant dies he tells <name here> a terrible secret that could shake the foundation of the world. Before Commander <name and rank here> can lead his men to the surface they are ambushed by cult forces. Can the Commander escape in time to bring his dire message to the rest of the forces on the surface?...

*Company Commander <name and rank here> Lore*

Ambush/escape mission: Imperial forces need to escape with enough units to deliver the message properly to the PDF Command.

Implications: Do the rest of the Imperial Players know the secrets of the genestealer cult?

Episode 2 Part 1:
Lore:
Boarding Assault: Blood Angels Secondary force under Librarian <name> board the Tau Command Ship in orbit.
Implications: Orbital Superiority.

Part 2:
Lore;
Cult Assassinations, corruption and espionage: Kill Imperial and Tau leaders on two different boards, sabotage planetary defense batteries, Role Play imperial politics?
Implications: Weakened/missing HQs on both sides, no battery defense against Tyrranid invasion, deny secret of cult corruption to space marines?

Episode 3 Part 1:
Lore:
Stronghold Assault: Victor from Episode 1’s assault on the defense of the loser.
Implications: Winner’s forces are more consolidated for Tyranid invasion.

Part 2:
Lore:
Ambush: Librarian <name> goes seeking in the wilderness for psychic artifact/beacon.
Implications: Warning of imminent Tyranid invasion delivered or not.

Episode 4:
Lore:
Apocalyptic Tyrranid Invasion: Both sides defend (separately) against mighty Tyranid invasion.
Implications: Elimination of worse off defender.

Episode 5:
Lore:
Suicide mission/last stand: Remaining defender attempts to break the back of the Tyranid invasion.
Implications: Ending of the story.

That's all I got so far. The lore of the following episodes (2-5) will be hashed out following the previous episode but the general outline is here and in my head. Let me know what you guys think! I have zero narrative campaign experience much less writing and organizing one so i could use the help.
