I finally got the Imperium 1 index....am I seeing this right? Drop pods can't carry dreadnoughts now? I have Bjorn, a regular old combat dread and ironclad for my Iron Hands. Is there hope of ever getting them into combat now? What's a good solution short of buying three Stormravens?

Yep, no drop dreads. Stormravens are all the rage for the other chapters, but wolves can't take them :(

Dreadnought Drop Pods from FW - they're in 'Index: Forces of the Adeptus Astartes'.

To all intents and purposes however, they aren't an actual option. 120 points to grant deep strike to a Dreadnought then do nothing for the rest of the game isn't of any use to even a player who cares nothing for efficiency in their list.
Some things are just too weak to bring.

Bjorn is a Character and now has a move of 8" so he can get into combat on foot without being shot up, same for Murderfang. Put an Axe and Shield Dread in front of them to tank fire and all 3 should make it into combat just fine.

hmmmm. Giant dread pod. Does it have any guns like regular pods? At least that would be something.
I wouldn't mind one storm raven. I just envision them writin a rule saying to ride in a transport the units must share all factionkeywords or something like that.

The Flamer Dread is forced out of range by the 9' rule and most Melee Dreads no longer find use in the Lucius Pod but the Shield Dread and Blasty Dreads get position.
Bjorn and Murderfang in particular, both being characters will get a Drop Pod shield if it's between them and any non sniper enemy models - Murderfang is a bit of a let down this edition but Bjorn is packing some nasty guns, 2+ BS and re-rolls of ones to hit will force opponents to honestly deal with at least two serious fronts.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go. |

Yes that rule is already in place. SM can't carry SW.

Dreadnought shooting weapons are no longer garbage, and there's always the trusty stormraven. Flamer dreads are not terrible choices at all, especially as a shield against assaults.

No, the dread drop pod has zero guns. 24 melta bombs is really too many point.

Footslog them, just like sisters do with their CC dreads.
