Hello everyone!

I'm an avid wargamer and even work in the defense industry as a wargaming analyst / ISO. I am looking for a wargaming community in Falls Church, VA, where I just recently moved to take on said job. It can be within driving distance; my commute some days is as far as Triangle, VA in support of USMC projects.

Any input would be nice, rather through PMs or in reply to this thread.

Thanks!

There is a pretty good GW store in Springfield VA as well that shouldn't be too far from your place in Falls Church. I know I game there from time to time as well.

Yeah, Victory wasn't bad the one time I went two years ago, store wise, just parking is...*fun*, lets say. The Island is okay, mostly more boardgames, in Chantilly. If you're willing to hoof it up to Ashburn, Huzzah Hobbies is really good, its in my "top tier hobby shops" category with Games & Stuff in Glen Burnie.

I'm pretty new but am looking for folks to play with. I'm in Burke VA so pretty close to both the Springfield and Fairfax shops

I live in the area but haven't been to the Springfield store in a few months. Was busy preparing for NOVA and then school started but I am usually around

Friend and I are probably walking through the Adeptus Titanicus rules the Sunday at my library in Falls Church. Still trying to get a board game group going which is hard to do.

Update to my last post, the Game Tavern in Chantilly is a new store opened up, lots of table space and good varied community.

Not really, that store was terrible. High prices, outdated selections, old funk smell, and they charged you to play on their tables... it’s a wonder they lasted as long as they did.

I haven’t been to Games Tavern yet, but my friend had and he gave it high praise.

All valid points but it was a game store. I’ll never understand most of their stock though, you’re right on that.

Falls Church has Compleat Strategist and Victory Comics, both with vibrant communities. There's also the GW store in Springfield.

I loved Games Parlor the first time I went in 2004, but then it got to be 2014 and they still had the same stock...

... and when they closed, and finally discounted the stock, a friend of mine bought some stuff... including a box that had sat in the window so long it was sun bleached... Here, http://roguegeneralhunter.blogspot.com/2015/11/loot-pillage.html For your reading amusement.

I hear good things about Huzzah Hobbies.

Like a quarter mile from the old Game Parlor is a new place called the Games Tavern. It's a nice, clean, and modern place with a bunch of tables and very nice terrain.

The shop part is a bit small, basically Flames of War and some 40k, but the tables are great.

Doshu from the old GW Fair Oaks works there, good dude.

A friend and I did Adeptus Titanicus at Tysons library in Falls Church for our last board game day (I'm a librarian) but I won't be there for the November game day. GW Springfield has a pretty big community who play just about every GW game.
