Ridin' on a Snotling Pump Wagon

Many many moons ago, when I was young and others were even younger, I caught a random film on the teevee.

All that sticks in my mind is a particularly unpleasant scene of a man being buried alive, in the desert.

I think it was a Western, but only because he was being buried alive in the desert. And I think it was the opening scene.

My memory of it is that he was already in the soon-to-be grave, with perhaps a half dozen people up above on ground level. Then they start filling it in. I think they were using what those spade type tools, but where the blade is mounted at a reverse angle, like an Azada.

I know this is a tremendously vague shot in the dark, but if anyone could point me to that film, I'd be grateful.

I read through the TVTropes page for "Buried Alive", but nothing springs to mind.

I'm not going to get much sleep tonight, though. :(

White Sun of the Desert also has a man buried alive at the beginning.

It's not a western though and the burial you describe doesn't happen so it's probably not the film you're thinking of.

I only think it was a western, because I recall it happening in a desert.

But it wasn't up to the neck. It was a full on burial.

Now I may be getting confused with other films I've seen, but it may be that as the scene closed out, a hand reached out the would-be grave.
