The current rulebook is the Hobbit one. Although I'd hold off for the moment as there is a very strong rumour a new rulebook under the name "Middle Earth SBG" will be coming out this summer/autumn. Also supported by the fact that GW have finally pieced out the Escape from Goblin Town starter set.

Dwarves are currently in two specific armies. Durins Folk which can be found in the Free Peoples source book and the Iron Hills which is in the newer "There and back again book".

Standard battles depend on your area, but you're usually looking at anywhere between 350pts-500pts as an average.

Not a strong rumor, Middle Earth SBG was confirmed, and images shown a few weeks ago. Mid 2018 release date.

"...and special thanks to Judgedoug!" - Alessio Cavatore "Now you've gone too far Doug! ... Too far... " - Rick Priestley "I've decided that I'd rather not have you as a member of TMP." - Editor, The Miniatures Page "I'd rather put my testicles through a mangle than spend any time gaming with you." - Richard, TooFatLardies "We need a Doug Craig in every store." - Warlord Games "Thank you for being here, Judge Doug!" - Adam Troke

This is great news! I came to this forum looking for a way to get into this game. When I was a kid, when The Fellowship came out with SBG, I hated the attention the game got as I thought it took it away from Fantasy. Surely LotR was a short sighted fad. Alas, now I wish to play because Middle Earth endures...and it's also just a better game than 40k or even Fantasy was.

I had the same feelings about it, I was an avid WHFB player and hated all the attention for that game. Now I love it and for me it is surely the best game GW offers nowadays.

Tolkein fanatic here and always thought it was their best system, after seeing AoS and 8th ed 40k I am completely convinced of that.
