I wanted to get some dragon ogors a few months ago, but my local stores couldn't order them (despite them not being webstore exclusive). Now dragon ogors have been "temporarily out of stock" for quite some time.
I left it then because the impulse to get them passed, but now I'm curious (because I heard of this on Warhammer Weekly). Does anyone know anything? Is GW trying to sneakily discontinue the line? Maybe some IP they are hanging onto for possible future use that has not been realised?

What do you guys think of the future of the Thunderscorn? I have been assuming that they are being left in the Old World. They are fairly unique IP (AFAIK) and survived the Great Purge of Last Chance to Buy though, so maybe there is a glimmer of hope?

They're most probably waiting for a certain amount of orders to come in or notification emails to be requested so the system can send them in the casting queue... probably. If they\re just marked as temp out of stock they're certainly not discontinued. It could be just that they\re moving a very small amount of them and are casting them at very irregular intervals.

The same thing happened with the Sisters of the Thorn / Wild Riders box set, after a month of them being MIA they suddenly reappeared with new boxes and the round bases. I hope your Dragon Ogres get the same treatment!

GW is usually pretty transparent when they decide to discontinue a kit. As long as you don't see the dreaded "Out of Stock - No Longer Available" stamp, they're just waiting on a restock. Just click the email notification button. Even if you don't plan to order from the web store, that button lets GW know they need to restock.

Definitely hit the email to be informed button. Adam Troke, (the guy who runs the Middle Earth dpt) tells us constantly on the Great British Hobbit League facebook page that GW uses that button to measure popularity and interest in the kit. The more people press it, the higher in the queue the item gets bumped up to get restocked.

Anyone think they are coming back at all, as a faction or part of a faction? If so how?

Thunderscorn are currently a tiny faction that breaks allegiances if used at all. It's little wonder there is little demand.

Maybe they even have the SoB problem. Unpopular because the models and rules are outdated, but GW does not update them due to a lack in popularity.

Hmm, well there definitely not in danger of being discontinued due to their IP, as you've said, but they are hard to figure into a battletome since there's only two units and they don't particularly fit any of the four gods.

Though maybe they'll get combined with a beastmen battletome? They'd make an awesome centerpiece model for them and could get fluffed as being the "voice" of the dark gods that gathers the herds.

That's my best guess, anyway.
