The Necron Gloom Prism Wargear upgrade neglects to state in its description that it turns the unit it is purchased for into a Psyker.
Deny The Witch Tests specifies that this ability when by Psykers has a maximum range.
Would this mean that RAW Gloom Prism has no maximum range and would need an FAQ/Errata mention to gain one?

RAW, maybe?

RAI would be it follows the usual range limitation.

For now most are treating it as unlimited range based on how it's worded but truthfully it needs an faq to be sure. The ability says you get to deny 1 psychic power a turn with no other limitations or stipulations. However the rules for making a denial test only exist under the deny the witch rules that specifies that you have to be a psyker and within 24" before it goes on to talk about the dice rolling, so it really could go either way.

Rules say Unlimited Range, so it has Unlimited Range.

RaI can't be used here because for all we know the intention could be to give the warp hating Necrons a full table deny.

The only mandatory RAW requirement seems to be rolling greater than the "manifest" roll of the Enemy.

I can't imagine RAI is to make the unit a Psyker, given that the entire existence of gloom prisms, the Pariah gene, and a huge chunk of necron technology in fluff exists because the Necrontyr were utterly warp-insensitive and even more so as machines.

on the forum. Obviously

It wouldn't turn the Spyder into a psyker, because it still can't use psy powers and that's really against the core of necron fluff.

It would seem that as it does not have a range specified, it might be unlimited. It could also be that they are expecting up to refer to the core DtW rules, even though that's some pretty poor rules writing.
Always specify when writing rules. No exception.

I agree it is a bit poorly worded but for me it is still pretty clear that it needs to be in standard 24" range if nothing else is specified.

You still have to use some rule for that try to deny because you can "try once to DtW". If you dont agree to use the DtW rule for psykers( 24" 2d6 has to be greater than..) which other rule do you want to use? There is no other DtW rule. You could argue aswell then that you have a 34,55" range and may use 4d6...

You would have to argue that there is a general rule missing for DtW, cause only psykers can do it right now.

Im pretty sure RAI they want you to look up the DtW rule and use it within 24" 2d6

Minor logical problem with that interpretation.

Paraphrase of DtW rule ... a Psyker (subject) can attempt to resist a power (object) by an enemy within X inches (range) by taking a DtW test (action).

The DtW Test is well-defined as a dice roll of exactly 2d6.
It does not appear to depend on Range or Subject or Object to alter the 2d6 to a 4d6. There is no mention of 34.55 inches.
Please correct my grammar and/or logic.
If I made either a grammatical or a logical mistake, I do apologize, my friend.

Kremling is correct. You can't ignore range restrictions while simultaneously using every other portion of this rule. You may be able to say "RAW there is no range restriction" but again, how to deny the witch (procedure and range) are clearly laid out. If you want to say you have greater range, you need a rule telling you that you can have greater range. Just like if I want a greater strength on my weapon profile, I need to have support saying that I CAN shoot my weapon at a higher strength

The range restriction isn't being ignored, it only applies to Psykers.

Except it specifies psykers. The Spyder is not a psyker, ergo the range restriction arguably does not apply here.

Psykers have permission to Deny the Witch if they are within 24" of an enemy psyker manifesting a psychic power.

Spyders have permission to Deny the Witch if they are equipped with a Gloom Prism.

Played a cron player with a Weird Boy blob jumping into CQB. I said 'sorry, you cant deny my jump because its not within 24 in.'

Then I thought to myself... I better look first.

Dagnabbit! I said that it looks like he in fact can deny my jump... which he did...

So, I have been allowing my Necron opponents to deny at any range with the Gloom Prism.

HIWPI.... but I dont have to like it.

This is pretty much it for now. Same can be said of Chaos Flesh Hounds.

Until they errata it by adding "as if they were a Psyker" (or something similar) to the Gloom Prisim/Collar of Khorn effect, there is no fixed range.
