So the Path to Glory is out for pre release. I was a little disappointed, after skirmish came out at such a great price, that it was being priced with GHB. I will be getting with but not without a little grumbling at the dent it will put in my pocket. I am excited to see how they do seige warfare for AoS. What are everyones thoughts?

I wasn't going to get it because I never got into path to start with but the bit about the campaigns with start collecting sets really caught my eye. Being able to play it with a limited amount of models sounds like a real plus.

Dont know.
GWs description has me to belive it an extension for skirmish, a booklet i did not like as they exluded majority of the resin models.

However, if it has sections that can be used in normal matched aos play i might eventualy get it.

I'll be picking up Path to Glory, because we've been having fun with Skirmish and were already thinking a neat, natural progression would be to go to the Path of Glory as it was presented in the GHB1. Having many more factions with new tables, etc. for Path to Glory is great in my mind.

Though I think the siege warfare stuff is not in the new Path to Glory, but in GHB2, which doesn't have an official release date yet, but "soon".

I believe you are correct that the siege warfare will be in the GHB2, but I still like the progessive build that Paths to Glory gives. Which works right in line with Skirmish.

Yeah, like I said, I'll be grabbing it. Heck, I'll be grabbing GHB2 when it comes out, too.

The "slow build" systems I find I generally like, it helps me prioritize my painting queue.

Gathering the Informations.

Not until I know for sure the models I want to run are in there.

I got burned by that on Skirmish. I wanted to run a Lord-Aquilor(Stormcast mounted on the Gryph-Charger) and a pack of Gryph-Hounds.

Couldn't do that in the 25pts they suggest for starting a League. Lord-Aquilors weren't in the book(and even when you did points divided by 5, he was still pushing 40 Renown or so for something that gave him very little use during Skirmish play) and Gryph-Hounds were prohibitively expensive for a skill (Warning Cry) that couldn't necessarily be used(it's primarily a counter-Summoning tool at this point, but since no Summoning for Skirmish...) in the game mode.

My other idea was a Waywatcher leading a thing of Kurnoth Hunters and Tree-Revenants, but Waywatchers aren't in there either.

The digital version is only $13 or £10 so I will be buying that.

I am super excited after listening to podcasts about this. Looks like GW have created a much more balanced version of the game for players to have fun with. Can't wait really!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I pre ordered on saturday. Looking to incorporate this into Azyr Empires 2nd ed.

I am excited about it, but I'm unsure if anyone will want to play it because "no points" and GW by intent is not limiting summoning, instead relying on the old "don't be TFG" rule which is largely meaningless if anyone really wants to abuse it.

I think the Start Collecting campaign is going to be a great selling point for this book - I for one might be using it in an upcoming AoS Tale of Gamers at my FLGS. We will have to see, but depending on how well received it is, we will be utilising it to its full effect.

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

I've preordered it. I plan to run a little campaign once it's in my hands.

As someone who does not play AoS but is interested in skirmish, it looks like this will allow you to select the guys riding dragon mounts etc. Does this act as a supplement to Skirmish or is it something separate? Will it use a similar renown points system?

Looks to be seperate as you don't use reknown points but a warband generation table instead. I'd imagine it will be compatible from the looks of Atia's review though unless I'm mistaken.

I like the resurrection part, been playing too many games lately that ruin with permanent loses.

And kudos to GW actually sending her the book early.

I was hoping it would be more like Skirmish just with more options and such.

I don't know if it is, just going by what Atia says which looks promising all the same.(I do love filled out rulebooks.)

I don't think its like skirmish. Your units do not operate as independent models. Also, your starting forces will have many more models unless you're doing the dragon riding hero-hammer thing.

And after every game you gain units so that by the end of the path to glory you typically have a full army.

If thats the case, I will likely pass on it, the skirmish way I find much much better. I like the way the models function in skirmish and shadespire is actually an interesting city.

Yeah it's weird because the original path to Glory was basically Skirmish level you didn't have units you had individual models but that's going back to like the dawn of time so it's changed a lot since then

Nice! I'm planning on going to pick up my hardcopy today. Was debating about getting only digital this time because of the significant cost savings, but it's easier to pass around a physical book than a tablet. Plus, I need some new Blood Bowl dice and other crap anyway.

Have you had time to go through the various tables and compare points values to see if they're more balanced than some of the previous tables?

If you have a community that will attempt to abuse things then Path to Glory just isn't for you, unfortunately. It's a great set of rules but requires some common ground of 'don't be a TFG' to really shine, so I can see how that may not work for some groups.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

I think that applies to AoS pretty much across the board. Frankly, it was the proliferation of TFG that got me out of 40k in 3rd edition.

I picked mine up and admit it was cost too much (GW don't go Kirby again) but I quite like the book and immediately rolled up some warbands.

My first was a Shaggoth champion with some monsters.

My complaint other than price is the lack of human/alef support. I wish Wanderers had their own charts. But at least it shows what GW plans to do (squat them) and Beasts of Chaos are a thing again!!!!
