Hi Dakka,

Finished up a Leuitenant for a painting comp at my local store. He got second place.

I didn't add any shoulder emblems (personally not a fan) but after seeing some of the other models, I realised it does make the model look somewhat unfinished, so will probably add some at a later date.

The dude:

With stupidly big base (a chance for me to practice some different stuff):

Lovely painting. Hate the base, but that's a deep rooted tick I've had for a while.

One other thing I've never taken to is the increase in the use of red on an Imperial Fists model. Always vastly preferred black/white/yellow being used primarily for the Fists. The red chest eagle on your figure is beautifully painted but just seems really blase to me.

Your painting is very nice, beautiful model. Transition on the power sword is very cool

Personally, I think yellow and red combined is blasphemy. Then I again I understood the Imperial Fists' reason for wearing yellow is that they want their enemies to see them coming. If they're also scratching their eyes out, I guess it doesn't hurt.

Good job!

Thanks man! I did actually think "Elbows will hate this" when making the base, but it gave me an opportunity to go crazy with some turfing and water experiments

Thank you! I took my time with the highlights (for once) so glad it got noticed

Thanks I actually settled on red after I saw a few Google images of the same scheme. Plus it gave me an excuse to not try and make a black chest Eagle look convincing!

Really appreciate the comments guys

Hey man, it ain't my model - I don't care at all! I don't even mind playing against people with overbased stuff (that's a new term...you can use it!), I just think aesthetically it's not pleasing to the eye.

You get bonus points for it not being:

A) a huge chunk of random garden stone glued to a plastic base.

B) A 4"x4" piece of random cork tile...glued to a plastic base.

C) A 4-5" tall wedding cake plastic column w/ the model leaping off of it for some unknown reason.

D) A 12 oz. piece of resin which you paid Forgeworld an additional $45 USD for...
