I think this is the appropriate place to post this but I apologize if this in the wrong spot.

I am looking for help with a couple of potential conversions and am not sure who in the community is a great resource for that information or where I could find a high quality place to coordinate my request/ set-up a commission.

I am interested in having a tank commander model made and would like it to be Vostroyan Firstborn. I would ideally like the Vostroyan Commander model (which is metal) to be converted so that he is emerging from the top hatch. It appears as though the coat would make this difficult as it would probably need to be at least partially rescultped. The tank commander would have to be magnetized so that he can be entirely removed from the model and swapped into another tank (Baneblade!) and a different tank commander swapped into his place.

Thanks in advance for any guidance or suggestions that you may have!

I think the commander model would be far to hard to do. especially with the cape and cloak

it might be more doable with the sergeant model. as all you would need to do is
1) put a washer on the bottom side of your hatches that blocks it all out (paint it black)
2) hack saw the sergeant to the height you want, file it down flat and put a magnet on it

then bobs your uncle you got a tank commander for your bane blade and lemon

I agree with Desubot. The commander would be harder because of that cape. I do a lot of GS and converting. The sgt's would be easier, heck, even the medic would be a snap, just exchange his syringe for a pistol or appropriate swagger item. I think the problem here is, that commander has a really cool face, and the rest have the masks on. If I were doing it, I would want the face open. That cloak could be cut and the GS'd to stream out the back, it would just make it a little more problematic to switch from tank to tank, as they would need a similar hatch area etc .
Again, I really think the medic and a weapon switch works here as well. He could be cut off at the waist, that hand near his knee re-positioned on the turret lip, and the syringe remade into a radio, or giant sandwich, or whatever he uses to show he is cool, calm and in charge.
Sadly, I don't have a medic figure, or I might try it, the idea is great

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

Thank you both for your suggestions and guidance. You have covered some additional details that I had not considered. I think I'm going to go back to the drawing board for my project at the moment. I have a few normal Leman Russ tanks to build before I have to turn my focus to the command tank. Thanks again!

You might consider using the base legs from one of the IG tank commanders like you find on the Chimera sprue, and then go to Mad Robot Miniatures and find a nice torso, arms and a bearskin hat to go with it. Let's face it, tank crews would wear a lot less elaborate equipment because of space being at a premium.
