What is everyone favorite power weapon this edition ?

Personally I've been really digging power swords, the -3 ap is pretty sweet and the cheap cost is just a massive bonus.

I think it depends entirely on who you're facing.

For a marine facing a marine, the power axe is likely better than the sword (owing to the fact that it allows a 3+ to wound in place of a 4+, etc.). Obviously less of a consideration when facing Guard, Eldar, etc...where the power sword will prevail.

Facing a lot of big beasties, the maul's bonus Strength would be important.

I actually like all of them. My friends have stuck all Power Axes on their models from last edition so I don't know what I'm going for with my own Marines, though I'm typically the person that avoids Power Weapons on everything.

One nice thing about the axe is that it’s good for things with invuln saves. Like marine HQs with a 4++. If they are going to get the save anyway, the -3 from the sword is going to be wasted, so might as well get the +1 S to help wound.

Although overall, I’m enjoying swords again. But they all have their place.

For str 3 guardsmen characters, I like a power axe or sword. Usually a sword because that's what comes in the kit. Str 6 just isn't that much better to justify the expense on such a weak platform to me. Especially since I generally do what I can to keep the men out of close combat.

While I've only played one game of my marines, I was wishing for a couple power fists at several times. Str 8 is way more interesting, and would have been very nice, and their characters already have a high enough WS to make it worthwhile.

Depends on the unit.
Power Maul for Marines - Hitting at S6 with an AP modifier is wonderful for killing Guard, Gaunts and other cheapie units.

Frost Claws for Wulfen, same as the Maul on the Marine.

Aside from that I'm partial to pairs of Lightning Claws, huge rending values, an extra attack and re-rolls to wound.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Chainsword! I don't want to pay 5 points for an axe that won't get used.

Otherwise, I like axes for their stats. If I were to take one, it had the right balance of letting me actually wound things, and breaching enough armor to make them actually concerned about my being in melee with them. I like the look of the Executioner Greatblades, and swords in general, far more though.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

Last edition those weapons cost fifteen points and didn't get there.
I play Wolves and Deathwatch so power weapons provide options.
Wolf Guard Bikers now have two wounds and the ability to nab a five point Storm Shield, they're capable of being monsters at almost any range if you load them for power weapon, shield, Twin Bolters and a Storm Bolter.
TWC benefit more from cheaper power weapons in this edition.
Deathwatch on the other hand have SIA so units will often try to hide from it by going for melee.

All of them seem useful. Even the staff sitting at the dreaded S6 is pretty good given the amount of T3 in the meta with... well almost every army being good.

Power Fists/axes, but I'm IG.

I want to try power mauls but I don't have any modeled. With IG our trash is so low we really need everything we get in regards to strength in order to make our meagre amount of CQC attacks stick. It doesn't hurt that power weapons and fists for us are so cheap.

The dark behind the eyes.

The Corsair Voidsabre - because I love paying 150% extra over a power sword for no gain whatsoever.

More seriously, I don't usually bother with them on my IG except to use up excess points. If I did, I'd probably go with:
- Power Fist on my Warlord.
- Power Swords on my HQs that have swords.

I think Mauls are better than swords but I don't have any models for them. Same goes for Axes.

Hmm. Got to say (from an Imperial Guard stance) the power fist and power maul are pretty neat.

The power maul is (mathematically) is the best "all rounder", but only because of the new wounding chart and the important price difference to the axe. The power sword is still the best for fighting 3+ save models, as the -3AP means that saves are few and far between.
The power fist us simply for sheer fun. Yes, you have -1 to hit, but the x2 S and -3AP means easier infantry kills, and the D3 wounds means a 66.6% chance of munching a terminator in combat.
