The black imperial primer, small paint boxes from GW. Are these a primer that will bond with the material?

Guess it's a simple Polyurethan brush-on primer.
So it will function as a primer, but will not bond with the material like some spray primers do.

what do you mean when you say it will fucntion as a primer but not bond?

You can paint on it, but you can scratch it off with little force.
You won't be able to do that as easily with spray-on pimers (at least with Army Painter).

so it's like paint then? regular acrylic paint.

No. It sticks better to bare plastic/metal/resin than normal acrylic paint.
But it does not offer the grip (on the material) of a spray-on primer.
