Context:
- Player 1 has a unit of 30 Termagants, each equipped with a Devourer. Player B has a squad of 10 Deathwatch Veterans.
- 29 of the 30 Termagants are hidden behind a tall building. Only 1 Termagant is within Devourer range, and sees the other unit.
- This Termagant only sees 1 Veteran, because the 9 other Astartes are completely hidden behind a tall building.

Questions:
1- Do the 30 Termagants shoot, even if 29 of them are not within range, and/or do not see the targeted unit?
2- Do all 10 Veterans can die, even if only a single model is seen by the shooting unit and/or within range of the shooting unit?

1: No, each model that wants to shoot has to have LoS (ignore own unit for measuring LoS) and needs to be within range.
2: Yes, when 1 model from the unit can be seen, the whole unit can be wiped out.

This is indeed correct. Shooting is on a model by model basis, casualties are unit wide.

I appreciate that is RAW... but wow that is stupid (casualties part).

It might be stupid but it prevents even more stupid sniping shenanigans.

It also speeds up the game without having to worry about such things.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

It helps to think the shooting actually takes place 'around' the time of the action - not actually when the dice are rolled. So those models that just moved behind the building (apart from the straggler) last time they moved were hit just as they were going there. That unit that gets wiped because one guy was around the corner were all advancing out when they got shot at etc etc.

Helps take away the 'rage' lol

One thing to remember. If some models of my unit are in cover, and some are not, and i remove the models which are not in cover, the remaining models do get cover bonus.
