I have to admit that Im a bit confused by the new army building rules when it comes to several factions.

I was trying to set up a 1000 point force of World Eaters (playing a friend's army for a change). So I went to Index Chaos pg44. Says Khorne Berzerkers can be taken as troops. I came up with this list.

HQ
Chaos Lord (Khorne)

Troops
5x Khorne Berzerkers
5x Khorne Berzerkers
5x Khorne Berzerkers

Transports
2 Rhinos

Now... the question is... Can I pick up Chaos Daemons for my battallion? They share factions so Im guessing I can, but my buddies say then I lose Berzerkers counting as troops, as daemons are not World Eaters. I would like to pick up a Bloodthirster as a 2nd HQ so I would have Battallion Detachment (+3 Command Points). I see nowhere that it says that all your troops have to be World Eaters <Legion> (faction).

Your buddy is wrong. The only thing needed to make the Berzerkers Troops is to take the WORLD EATERS keyword as their <LEGION>

You can take as many Daemons as you want. You can even make them Tzeentch
