meant to be very fast and reach the opponents line with a lot of huge bastards on first turn.
all big guys to negate the anti-infantry guns the opponent has.

Defiler looks out of place since hes the only one who doesn't move forward but I'm trying to work with the models I have right now and I needed another Heavy support, he can sit on an objective and shoot which isn't bad.

Just one thought, I've only played a couple games of 8th but what I've found is that single large models are terrible at holding objectives because it goes by model count now for who holds one -- by not having infantry this could be a problem for you.

that is a disadvantage of low model count army but on the plus side fully immune to morale, this army will try to kill the opponent and table them completely more than anything.

Its very fast so can reach objectives well enough and deals enough damage to kill what's holding it within a turn or 2.

Are heldrakes really that good these days? D6 shots is pretty weak compared to the flyers of other races. I would cut them honestly.

The strength of the Heldrake isn't in its shooting, but the combination of shooting and melee.
With a 30"M, it can position itself to get characters as the closest target and possibly snipe them.
They can also assault and engage multiple units on turn 1 (charge unit A and pile into unit B). If those units do not have FLY or a similar ability that lets them fallback and shoot, the Heldrake has already been worth its point cost without the potential damage it can do to those units.

With so few models, and all of them being multi-wound Lascannon bait, 2 Heldrakes actually seem invaluable in a list like this.

I agree with chaosmarauder.

I field guard - my current 2000 point list has 216 models. (It is posted with the tag "is it legal? Is it safe?") Suppose my army managed to take out just two of your models before you took out all my special and heavy weapons (no easy task, my lascannons and much of my plasma is embedded in 10-man squads), and you didn't lose another model for the whole game.

Can your army do enough damage in 6 turns to reduce my army from 216 models to less than ten?

At the very least, get some cultists to hide in the backfield until objective grabbing time, or better yet given the existence of indirect fire like mortars, wyverns, and thunderfire cannons, get some chaos marines with heavy weapons to stick in cover.

Adding those heavy weapons wielding Space marines wouldn't allow me to take out those 216 models, a ridiculous horde army like that might have advantages but probably suffer from low speed so sometimes that's enough for my fast army to still get some objective.

That would potentially be the hardest counter to an army like this and I understand that possibility, that's fine those are still relatively rare so I think I'm ok with that.

I agree with Galef, the Heldrakes are invaluable in its capability of tying up a strong shooter unit and being tough enough to shrug off the overwatch from it. this will allow the Bloodthirster to survive long enough to reach the opponent.
