Hi all. So 8th has shaken some things up a bit it seems.
Is it possible now to put a Dreadnought in a drop pod?
Also if it has to be the apparently discontunued forgeworld dreadnought drop pod, would it be possible to use the normal one with the Lucious rules in friendly and tournament games?

If tournament rules allow it, and your friend is ok with it, sure.

The Lucius drop pod is the rules the gives dreadnoughts a drop pod. They aren't allowed in normal drop pods

You need Index Imperial Armour - Forces of the Adeptus Astartes (Forgeworld) to put a dreadnought inside a drop pod. The Lucius Pattern Drop Pod from that book can hold a dreadnought inside.

The normal one from Index Imperium 1 cannot.

The real question is why would you pay over 100 points just to drop a dreadnought.

The only army that could potentially benefit is BA, but drop pods don't get you closer than 9".

Drop pods may as well not even exist at this point.

Normal Drop pods can't carry dreadnoughts. Those are the rules. Playing otherwise is either house rules or cheating.

Keep in mind that the normal drop pod and Lucious pod are significantly different in size, too - the latter having a much larger footprint.

It's much better to put them in Stormravens. Or, for BA, move your 8", advance D6 and fire assault weapons.

Yeah - for what they do in this current addition - they are worth less points than they were before.
