This model in particular. I just finished it, and I just... don't like it. I'm not sure what's wrong with it, with the work I put into it it should look good, and it has my usual skill applied. I need merciless critique, so I can find out exactly why I don't like him.

I think for me, the thing which stood out instantly was the wrist. At a front view it looks like a comical peg-leg for a hand.

Other than that I don't think the blue/green cables on the front add anything to the scheme. Replaced with a different colour or two it could be a bit more matched to the overall scheme.

He's extremely static and pointing off in a direction.. that.. he just doesn't seem too bothered by. The legs are relaxed, he's just casually resting the rrifle, he's looking perfectly straight ahead. It almost looks like he's on guard duty giving directions to the coffee machine or something.

The funny part for me is that his pose makes absolute sense....just not for the battlefield. He looks like he's flatly telling someone where the cargo is suppose to go when they asked him a stupid question.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Excellent point. I'll repaint one cable yellow, and the other black. I'll see how that looks.

As for posing, I absolutely see that, and would change it if I were capable. But sadly, effectively monopose model.

To me, the main thing is the posing. He just looks so casual with the resting rifle, the head angle, and the droopy pointed arm. Also the picture angle isn't doing the left arm favors.
For example, here's a vanguard I blu tacked right now which I tried to make look a little more 'purposeful'

Regarding colors, blue and green can work fine with red/orange, but I would choose different hues. Perhaps try experimenting with cyan or teal instead of the smurf blue and yellow green.

I think it's a very solid paint job, but...that peg-hand.

Chucked him in the freezer and improved the pose. Sadly, the rifle is blocking me from moving his head any further.

Also, redid the cables.

If you can't turn the head with where the hand is pointing, turn the head to the opposite side as if he is ordering someone to take notice; also the silver metallic looks bland, need some silver edging highlights.

Just managed to get the head to turn properly.

Thank you, I'll add those right now, and post an update in the morning.

100% better. I think it's done.

Looks better now with the changes, bit more dynamic as well as dramatic. Could easily sit at the front of a squad!

Maybe a bit of blending on the cloak where it curls to mimic light changes might add a bit of depth to it, but that might be overkill!

Hi, could it be its the same colour scheme everyone seems to be going for at the moment?

Ha, I've been playing AdMech with this scheme since literal day one!

Thank you all for the critique. I like it a lot better now. (And I did add the metal highlights, will add pics to this post later)
