Which list is better?
List 1:
Basically a list that tries to go first and rush up to the enemy and punishes them for killing my units.
List 2, basically the same as list 1, but trades Yncarne for Yvraine, Farseer & 2 additional WG:
This list has 1 less drop to help go first, the dragons also become more deadly with Guide & Doom

I prefer list 2.
Doom is great.
Yvraine holds her own as well.

List 2 is way better - Yncarne just doesn't cut it at his point cost. Id recommend fortune and doom for your farseer. This way you can conceal 1 hemlock and fortune the other. This will probably be enough to discourage opponents from shooting at ether one of them. As long as they are alive - you are in the game.
I basically run this same list - however I use Reapers instead of fire dragons and I run the serpents with no upgrades.

I keep going back to Reapers and the idea of 3 units starting in the same serpent is funny to me. But the points are just too high. 1 unit of Dragons completes a Vanguard detachment.
That's an interesting point on Fortune, especially since I could use Ancestor's grace on the Dragons.
What do you think of changing the list as such:
It implements your suggestion and trades the Razorwing (which is still great) for a Crimson Hunter (better movement and more anti-tank on the turn prior to disembarking)

Not sure if the flyers make their points back.
I'd go with ground forces instead.

Have you played with the hemlock yet? Making it's points back would be a disappointment IMO. It surgically removes the things that trouble your list almost automatically (if you can just make wound roles) and it offers disruption with is - leadership modifiers. It assassinates characters like a boss too.

I like the razorwing - but if you have the points to spare the upgrade to a crimson I think is better. Fortune is also a big boon to the WG as well. More often than not you will be casting it on WG once they are out of their serpent.
The thing I like about the reapers is it's kind of a fool proof plan. Fire dragons can easily have nothing to do all game vs some armies. To fill a vanguard though you need 3 elites - so I totally understand the issue. Perhaps - bring a solitaire? Also - on the Reaper Exarch - make sure to give him a EML - for some reason it's cheaper than the inferior reaper launcher.

Agreed on the Reaper Exarch. Seems like a no-brainer
I wouldn't mind taking 3 units in a Spearhead instead of taking a Vanguard, but the points just don't allow it.
