Hi Dakka,

I found this mini a real pain in the butt to paint/assemble - he just didn't like me very much and the feeling became mutual pretty quickly but he turned out OK in the end. The silly £22.50 jack-ass

Thanks for looking

Nice work, great job creating contrast between the cold armour and warm robes and face.

Great paintwork. Still not in love with the figure or its head, but I love that you didn't go over-the-top Blood Angels with it. Nice restraint.

Its a hard model to get along with.
The end result is really nice though. Amazing freehand on the cloak.
The Sword look a bit dull without modern glowing effects, but its nice to see a more toned down look for once.

If I may, a thin line of yellow in the middle of the orange runes would really make the sword pop

Gorgeous freehand on the cloak, almost looks like it was molded on its so clean

model confuses me. your freehands incredible but it doesn't appear you shaded much of the rest of the model. It looks like two diff people painted this. sorry if thats harsh it just confuses me. maybe the freehand is "drawn" on? are you a very good artist with pencils?

The design on the cloak is a decal - not freehand, I should have mentioned that in the OP, now I feel guilty My freehand is currently like a poor man's Picasso

A lot of the depth in tone is subtle and is washed out in the photos - particularly on the reds and cloak. I could have gone much further with him (as you can with all models), especially with the sword and gold, in terms of depth and highlighting etc but I had to call time on him and move on.
