Hey guys, with the recent release of 8th edition I've gained some interest in the hobby once again. I've decided to go Tyranids this time around, but would like to point out that I'm new to the army and I wont be playing competitively. The following army is extremely basic but includes some units that seem good/fun. In total (WITHOUT including wargear points!) Is 1300 (I'm collecting 2000 points).

I'd start by having larger genestealer squads. You want to make your attacks with 10+ models to get the bonus attack. 15-20 is a pretty standard size and they can pop out of the trygon tunnel.

What he said, and try to add in some Rippers, they are almost always useful.

Out of the tunnel? Wait, what? How does that work?

basicly a Trygon can work like a transport...when you set it "Underground, you can designate one Infantry as "in the tunnel" it dismounts from the arrival point as if it was a transport... Counts as one "drop" as well.

Since your not using a tervigon i would swap the gaunts for a warriors maybe.

Termagaunts in 30 man sqauda are awesome but the tervigon is what makes them worth taking.

I'd give the swarmlord some tyrant guard otherwise he's gonna be chewing down a lot of lascannons krak missiles etc
