Hi Dakka,

the GSC Rock Drill weapon states that after a model takes damage from it that they suffer an additional mortal wound on a 2+.

If this model was part of a 10 man unit of 1W models, does the mortal wound spill over onto another model in the unit (as per the mortal wound rule in the rule book killing another model), then again on a 3+ (killing another model) and so on until the roll is failed?

Does this mean a GSCultist could potentially kill 6 models from a 10 man unit with 1 rock drill?

Anyone who could point me towards the ruling in either direction would win all the internet points

Thanks

Paul

The rock drill rules says 'until the model is slain'. I can't think of any other reason they would say that except to try to prevent you from spilling mortal wounds over onto other models with this weapon.

Although, if you're killing the model with the initial damage of the weapon, then the rules seem to let you do one mortal wound (on a 2+) that would carry over to another model in the unit.

Mortal wounds are intended to spill over to other models. Tau Railguns have a similar rule to represent passing though a guy and hitting the guy behind him.

There are further rules involved with this weapon. You can only kill 1 model. As soon as the model damaged is slain the mortal wounds stop building; this includes before the first.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

If you kill a model off the first wound it's removed before you get to roll for the rock drill...

Basically raw it's impossible for the wounds to spill over to other models for a rock drill mortal wound or not.

Model had 1 wound, is wounded and put to zero wounds= no rolling for the rock drill as it is removed from play.

Model has 2 wounds, takes 1 damage from rock drill. Rock drill special rule kicks in as model has 1 wound now, rock drill scores a mortal wound -reducing model to 0 wounds. Model is removed from play and rock drill can't roll anymore.

Not the same as Tau rail weapons.
