After several editions of taking a break from 40k, 8th finally pulled me back in.

I liked the look of Primaris Marines and picked up the Marine half of the Dark Millennium boxed set in a trade and have been painting on them since. I still have to add some static grass and basing materials, but they are mostly done. Sorry about the crappy cell phone pictures, but its all I have right now. So without further ado;

Incessor Squad:

Plasma Gun. This is my first time using a little OSL on the plasma glow.

Very nice, now make sure you paint a little zigzag scar on the forehead of one of them.

Great job on the marines and great job on the OSL. Fantastic choice with the howling Griffons too. You really must be a glutton for punishment to pick that paint scheme.

Keep up the good work.

Ty for the kind words. I loved the look of the Griffons since rogue trader days. Finally was brave enough (stupid enough?) to start painting them a few years ago. When I came back to 40k after a break (maybe 2 games played in 6th, and none in 7th), I knew I had to continue with them (or be stuck purchasing everything again for another chapter).

Had to finish his Auspex or he would have been included in the last batch. Another one in the DONE pile. Next up is another three man Reiver squad and the plasmas are calling my name.

Nice job. What did you use for the shoulder pads? Is that shapeways 3d printed details added on? Could you take a pic showing the left shoulder?

I have to say that the middle guys face looks very menacing. Great job! Is that the easy to build kit?

Ty. Yes its the easy to build kit. I picked them up along with a First Strike box when they came out. Still not happy with the ammo pouches.. but they are starting to look overworked and once it gets there its best to leave it alone. I might go back and touch them up at a later date.

Hellblaster Squad almost completed, just the packs to go (first one pictured in first post). Only 8 figures to go from DI and then I can dig into my Agressors.

Looking good.

Did you do the plasma glow with an airbrush or by hand?

Airbrush. After doing the Lt and cpt's power swords it was really the easiest way.

They're looking so amazing! i've loved that color scheme for a while and you've done a great job with it here.

They look very robust too, something about that bold yellow just makes them seem so much more solid

realism is a lie

Some really great looking HGs there. They've come up beautifully.
I'm waiting on a design from PGTM that he said would be finished next week (about a month ago) and then was going to pull the trigger on a decent sized order. How have you found the shoulder icons to work with?

Quick WIP. Still a metric crap-ton of highlighting to go, but I like the direction he is going.

Ty. The shoulder icons are simplicity itself to use and the price is absolutely on point. I have paid less for custom decals that work worth beans. I am about 1/2 way through a single order, and while I will probably get a second order later, 60 shoulder icons goes a long way. I just wish I could find my decal sheet for the ancient.

Very nice!

My plan is to grab 10-15 sets of the shoulder icons (for different armies), so I'm just waiting on the one he said he'd get done - he has them in full shoulder, but I want to fit them on my original 3rd Edition army that are pretty much built and painted. Great to hear that they're so easy to use - thanks!

Getting there. Some more highlighting and misc and I will be done with the first lot. I am going to treat myself with some aggressors. Maybe a medic or a tank.

As always, C&C welcome.

All of the bits and bobs painted and sealed. I ran out of matt sealer and used a gloss polyurethane sealer from the same manufacturer on these. I am VERY annoyed that they are still slightly tacky to the touch. The can says that it takes up to 4 hours to cure, so I am hoping that by tomorrow the tacky will go away. These are the last of the regular troopers from the DI boxed set, I am pretty happy to finishing them up. I still have the standard for the ancient and the Gravis Cpt. to finish, but they should not take too long to knock out (I will likely put them back in line for the next batch painting).

The Inceptors:

The Intercessors:

And a group shot of everything so far:

Next I am back in "hardware mode". I picked up two more DI sets worth of figures for fairly cheap the other day. I will use them to bulk out my firing line and hopefully be done with non character models for awhile. I need right around 30 of the bits to make the standard bolt rifles into the A2 24" version. Since I have not seen them on ebay, it is likely that the rubber and resin will get pulled out to cast the ones I need. As a special treat once I am done, my Aggressor squad will get magnetized for maximum flexibility.
