I want to make a list to take advantage of some of the really excellent new strategems. This one is aimed at the awesome 3 Predator strategem. The list comes to about 1980 points and has some room for variations. I think it would be more competitive if the intercessors were replaced with scouts and some sternguard were added in, but I don't have the models. The list relies on Guilliman for massive rerolls, 4 predators to help keep the 3 Pred strategem rolling, and a screen of intercessors and hellblasters under the relic banner. The 3 Pred Strategem grants 3 predators +1 to wound rolls and +1damage on all weapons against VEHICLES and MONSTERS for 1CP. An auxiliary support detachment of 20 conscripts might also help this list against certain deep strike assault armies.

Guilliman

Battalion:
1x1 Techmarine (45 points if you drop the force axe for a chainsword)
1x1 Chronus (35 points, so cheap)
5x1 intercessor + aux grenade
5x1 intercessors + aux grenade
5x1 intercessors + aux grenade
10x1 hellblasters
1x1 primaris ancient (banner relic)
1x1 predator with lascannons, bolter, hk missile [chronus]

Spearhead:
1x1 Techmarine
1x1 predator with predCannon + hbolters, bolter, hk missile // autocannon+HvyBolters are better versus Magnus / high invul models than the lascannons
1x1 predator with lascannons, bolter, hk missile
1x1 predator with lascannons, bolter, hk missile

You're right that this list would be more competitive with scouts.

I believe that this list isn't built to handle an Astra Militarum infantry list, which is what most of my army is made of. Nor can it handle Orks. It looks like it's built specifically to take out large targets from long range. Saay, does your local meta include Tau riptides and imperial knights, by any chance?

Yeah a lot of big models show up at Game Empire. I realize there is some horde problems here, but the 4 predators can win trades with all kinds of heavy support. The ork lists in my area have Mega 300$ Resin Squiggoths so having heavy guns is a good thing.

Aggressors are strong against hordes, and scouts puts out a pretty good amount of shots. What Ultramine stuff do you think could be swapped in to control hordes?

EDIT: I could also mix in more heavy bolters on the predators. With the strategem and RobbyG those heavy bolters are basically autocannons or better.

Just a nitpick: I don't believe the servo arm is optional, so that would be at least 12 more points for a minimum of 57 total.

Nah, as of the codex they are 45 points base, +12 for the servo-arm which cannot be replaced.

Yeah I meant drop the force axe and keep the servo arm, which saves 4 points. 45 + 12. They end up have a chainsword and the servo arm, which makes plausible in melee. I could see putting storm bolters on them.

What are space marine players running to deal with hordes? Basic space marines don't have the volume of fire to slow down ork boy squads or kill off conscripts.

I am eyeing a box of Dakka aggressors, but I don't see how you bring them, Guilliman, and Predators and not risk just getting blown off the table from lack of models. So many elite units.

The ancient I don't think fits in this list. Drop him - shed some points - take a rhino with 2 storm bolters and start both tech marines in it. Incresae your chaces of going first and something to slow down hordes. An apoth is another option - decent to hang out with hell-blasters. Also - I think the tech marine is a fine place to put you a relic storm bolter. bs2+ with a 24" rapid fire2 str 5 ap-1 D2 weapon. Pretty dang deadly.

That (1 rhino for all HQ) strat sounds strong. I could even squeeze in 5 sternguard to get some mileage out of the new strategem. Hmm, have to think about that.

Ah, gotcha

I could see putting storm bolters on every tom, dick and harry - at 2 points a pop for rapid fire 2, they're a steal!

I think where you are going to see that is in Raptors/Ravenguard Chapter tactics lists. Veterans and Sternguard can take stormbolters and Lias Issadon gets 3 squads of them safely into 12" range.

Another nitpick: If any unit in your ARMY doesn't have the matching <CHAPTER> keyword, then NO ONE gets CT. You might not even be able to use the special stratagems, although I haven't perused enough to be sure of that.

So don't take Conscripts!

This is incorrect. Your army has to be battleforged, but not all Space Marine. They do however have to be in a Space Marine detachment to get the CT and Defenders of Humanity, and only the units in the detachments get them. The stratagems are unlocked by having one or more space marine detachments, and effect whatever units they say they do.

So, you can take a SM detachment and all the guys get to use CT and DoH, and then take another detachment with a space marine HQ, and 2 units of conscripts and a tac squad in another one, which could use the SM stratagems on the SM units, but won't get CT and DoH.
