I've decided on a experimenting with a hybrid list involving good amounts of stealers and monstrous creatures.  It won't be fully zilla or stealer rush, but trying to mold the positive aspects of both.    I will try to use scuttlers to improve my overall speed and get everything into close combat on turn two.   The monstrous creatures will give me my anti-vehicle and be targets themselves.

List:

Hive Tyrant - Wings, Toxin Sac, and 2 Scything Talons

Hive Tyrant - Enhanced Senses, Toxin Sacs, Venom Cannon, and TL-Devourer

2 Tyrant Guard

Carnifex - Enhanced Senses and 2 TL-Devourers

6 Genestealers - Extended Carapace and Scuttlers

6 Genestealers - Extended Carapace and Scuttlers

6 Genestealers - Scuttlers

6 Genestealers - Scuttlers

12 Spinegaunts - Scuttlers

12 Spinegaunts - Scuttlers

3 Raveners - Rending/Scything in 3 FA slots

1 Zoanthrope - Warp Blast and Synapse

1 Carnifex - Enhanced Senses, Venom Cannon, and Barbed Strangler

Total: 1500

The TMC's should be able to handle vehicles pretty well with the elite fex best against light vehicles, tyrant against medium, and heavy fex against heavy.  Hopefully, I have enough synapse with the three creatures with one being very durable.  The stealers with carapace will scuttle into the open if needed and hopefully carapace gives the protection needed.  The other stealers scuttle behind cover.  Spineguants are meant to tie up units so they can be dealt with later.

By looking at their respective movements: flying tyrant, stealers, spinegaunts, and raveners all move at the same pace of around 30 inches on turn 2.   That way, everything hits at once.  Not sure how well the list does at escalation.  The zoanthrope provides synapse for the gaunts, but at the same time they have to hide.  The monstrous creatures are fairly effective coming on the board with guns/speed, but seperation between the units  deployed first moving forward on the table and the newly arrived units could be problematic.  Pretty small list that depends on speed and coordinating assaults/shooting.

No sir, I don't like it. I don't have a lot to add other than that tiny squads of expensive genestealers seem like a bad idea to me.

Do you just not like stealers? Scuttling is really cheap for what it does. That 6 inches usually means the difference in turn 2 vs. turn 3 charge. Also helps you duck behind cover in the middle of the table. Carapace is a more iffy upgrade, but if you scuttle, you won't always have cover.

scuttlers is far more iffy than carapace.

Any good marine army can kill 24 genestealers in a turn outside of cover. in cover, they'll kill enough it won't matter. So 2 turns or 3 turns doesn't matter much, unless you have a buttload of them in squads big enough to win combat when they get there.

I like genestealers a lot but only en masse or with some other scary assault troops. 3 raveners and some spinegaunts does not draw enough guns away from your stealers.

Outside of a TMC army, I don't think I would run any fewer than 40 carapaced stealers if I was going to bother with any.

The Hammer

(dittos Longshot) TMCs and stealers is a fairly proven combo. (edit - stealer rush needs some way of handling vehicles) Just go with massed stealers with both upgrades and at least a brace of Gunfexes to handle vehicles. The dakkafex and Tyrant + Guard brood don't really fit, IMHO, the small bugs are okay if you're short on models, and the 'stealers could use carapace even more if they're scuttling - remember, they don't leap and thus WILL get rapid fired. Without the little bugs you don't need the Zoanthrope. The theme should work fine - your opponent can choose between shooting your shooty 'fexes and letting the stealers and flyrant close, or shooting the flyrant/stealers while the fexes keep up their barrage.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

I think a flyrant, 3 gunfexes and as many super stealers with carapace as you can fit would be a neat army.

The tyrant with venom cannon is statistically equivalent to a carnifex with venom cannon at armor 13. Armor 10-12 tyrant is vastly superior and armor 14 carni is superior. I like the venom tyrant cause its greater chance of hitting, more damage to speeders, and its synapse is just helpful.
