So...I'm building a board for Necromunda, which means about half the terrain is glued onto the board (they're too complicated to be loose) and to make it so I can transport the damned things I've divided the boards into 16 12-inch by 12-inch squares. I figured I could find one of those wheeled suitcases or something similar to store and transport the boards but - surprise - I'm struggling somewhat.

While I could probably build something that would do the job and slap some wheels on it, I typically work in wood, and that'll get heavy. I'm a big dude, but between the MDF and pine baseboards and the transport being pine, I think I'd get worn out pretty damn fast.

So...how do other people transport this crap?

I'm in the UK, but might be willing to ship from the US for saner options.

I'm mostly curious why it's all stuck to the table. I get that it's dense terrain with walkways and such, but Infinity players make do with dense terrain that's not stuck to the board pretty easily. I haven't seen a Necromunda table that's noticeably more complex than some of the ridiculous Infinity tables I've seen.

A lot of it isn't. And I suspect if I was better at engineering, some of the ones I've done likely wouldn't need to be either. But I'm working with a budget - other than some old cities of Death buildings and some laser cut MDF terrain, it's stuff I've scrapped together myself, and the only way I could work out how to make some of the walks ways I've built was with a solid base.

But even if I change the boards, I'd still need a bag or case to transport them.

I started making my terrain either smaller or can be broken down into pieces that are not so high. Picked up one of those plastic storage containers with multiple drawers that has small plastic wheels to move the terrain up and down to a storage locker. Transparent to help locate which drawer to access. When I moved it to another gamer in my group I taped the drawers shut and rolled it to the boot of the car and into the back for transporting.

What I really need now is one of those cloth bags to back the Citadel Realm of Battle tiles. They have stopped adding them to the plastic kit and those tiles are awkward to move and store without one.

Cheers,

CB

Yeah, I was hoping the smaller board sections would make it easier. And most of the terrain is pretty dismantled already. The boards that aren't tend to be more...set pieces, like a ship in dock, or ones that we wanted more detail such as lamposts and things. The kind stuff you loose out on with more transportable terrain.

So far, a pair of these bags seem to be my best bet; The dimensions are big enough that I should manage to fit enough for five or six of the set piece boards (without the removalble terrain elemnts, each is about 10cm tall) plus the other, regular boards with a bag holding the movable terrain seperate.
