Catachan

I've heard talk about Catachan being targeted by orks and demons. This is supposedly in the Space Marine Codex of all places. What I've heard is that the Ultramarines arrived to discover that the native Catachans had already defeated the invaders. Does this include orks AND demons, or just one? If it was demons they faced, what does that mean for the entire planet that witnessed these [CLASSIFIED] horrors? Would the Imperium perform exterminatus on Catachan to make sure they don't talk about it? Mind-wipe everyone? Or is the cat pretty much out of the bag in regards to demons at this point?

I havn't read the SM codex so not sure. The IG codex drops later this year so then we'll probably get more info. Catacha itself is kind of difficult to beat. Establishing a foothold is all but impossible. The apex predators on Catacha, the Catachan devils, used to be Lictors (they've evolved to become part of the regular fauna). Most Catachans live on top of trees, because moving forces on the ground is impossible. I'd assume an assult on Catcha is like assulting a fortress of nature. I think orks would have a hard time. Deamons are more difficult to judge. They don't follow the laws of physics so analysing their ability to make war is all but impossible.

Edit: Catcha wouldn't be the only planet to survive a deamon incursion and not be exterminatused. It's happens a few times. A planet in the FF RPG DH ED1 named dusk was pretty much deamon infested yet it's population was left to do what they pleased.

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

I certainly hope they elaborate in the new codex.

I believe that by the time the Indominus Crusade reached Catachan the locals had already beaten off the threats.

That much I've heard already. What I really want to know is:
What is the source material for this fluff?
Were both previously impending threats repelled, or just one with the other on the way?
Would the Imperium sacrifice Catachan's survivors to keep the lid on the existence of demons, or is the cat out of the bag at this point?
I'd say they proved their worth, but some in the Inquisition might consider their exposure a liability.

Shortly after the invasion the Orks and Demons sent a written apology to the people of Catachan and most notably Marbo for accidently invading their planet.

I hate the name on my profile, I made it when I was twelve and regret it now.

Everyone knows about demons now. I expect more info when the GK codex comes out.

I doubt they'll be in too much trouble. They're a very valuable human resource, as aptly demonstrated by going First Blood on Daemons and Orks simultaneously.

Like the Kriegers (who are presumably allowed their own little indiscretions a la vitae womb) and Cadians (many of whom might have some inkling of a suspicion re: warp-buddies), the Catachans will probably be another example of the Imperium's selective interpretation of its own totalitarianism.

Well you know the hubris and braggy nature of Catachan's.

"Yea, those daemonettes were pretty creepy to an offworlder, but here on Catachan we have the flying pincer-claw-seduction-bush-fruit which is much more alluring, so whatever, the deamonettes were barely a distraction".

The indigineous life on Catachan just view orks as another type of tasty mushroom. Scrumptious!
