When people say, "You need to base your model", I say "I will get around to it". But secretly, I don't want to base them.

I used squared-off Bicycle casino dice for about a year until someone said they were illegal to use in a tournament. Then I threw them away and bought some new dice. Come to find out, they're not illegal.

I've played against people, started winning- and then they got grouchy so I lost on purpose so they would lighten up.

I've never won a game with anything other than Black Templars, Scions, and Alpha Legion.

I skipped out on an event so I could use the money for an Imperial Knight. I still haven't put it together, and that was almost a year ago.

I did a really bad job painting my first 'Getting Started' set of Scions. Then I went to another store and bought a whole new box, and painted those. I told everyone I stripped down my original models and repainted them.

One guy at the shop I play at had a really hot girlfriend. He's actually a really, really ugly neckbeard and kind of an obnoxious dude. She told me she wanted to leave him and had nowhere to go. But he gave me a handful of old models that I really like, so I told him what was going on and he sent her back home on a bus.

One of my friends' kids knocked over another friend's Dark Eldar raider and broke it. I said I did it, and he won't talk to me any more and the kid won't even look at me.

I actually like Primaris Marines and hope they replace all the other models in a few years.

I never use 'regular' Space Marine helmets- I always use Maximus or some Forge World helmets. This costs a lot of money.

In the casting shack.

OH BOY.

Every time I walk into a GW I buy something even though I usually can't afford it because I feel pressured by staff.

I've been buying Warhammer for 17 years and I've never played a game.

I keep buying stuff I know I'll never paint or use or hell even afford because I like getting mail.

Sometimes I recast parts for my own personal use so I can stretch the contents of my box even further.

I'm too upset to go to my local GW because once the manager stole my third party ork warboss because it wasn't GW even though it was just in my box of minis I brought to paint and I had no intention of getting it out.

Your friend who won't talk to you sounds like an donkey-cave. My big expensive professionally painted Ta'unar was knocked over by one if the flgs owners by accident.

I told them it wasn't a problem. They all seemed to think I was going to explode. They said I took it really well. Thankfully the owner got it repaired asap. He also gave me a few hundred dollars of deathwatch models since I took it so well. He even offered to buy a replacement and then some for me if it hadn't been fixable. To think I nearly rage quit and went home (politely if course).

Heck where I come from if people break your gak tough luck. I was astounded I got anything for it breaking. He is a cool guy the store owner.

Also I still talked to them even when I wasn't sure it was fixable.

I only go in if I'm specifically looking for a product. Here where I am, most people avoid gaming at the GW because the staff will hover over you while you play and try to shove product at you.

My confession is that I rarely play games with MY models because I own so little now. It's a struggle to rebuild, ya know?

I, on two occasions, got a date because of 40k. I proceeded to geek it up and completely trip over my tongue, also because of 40k.

I once got an A+ in a class (not just one assignment, the entire class) because I managed to bull my way through it by explaining how a bunch of soda cans stapled together was an Iron Warrior's warsmith and something about recycling.

I ended up meeting a businessman (who turns out to be the CEO of several small jewelry supplier companies) simply because I listed 40k as an interest on facebook and he literally rang me up out of the blue because he could not find anyone else to geek out with.

I once saw an old man and a kid enter a game store, then the old man being the one geeking out in the store while the kid had "Is this over yet?" Plastered on his face.

Due to an apathetic store clerk and a mislabeled box of minis, I got 45 Iron Warriors for 45 bucks (no tax due to paying in cash), several of which were the metal lascannon variety. I assumed the clerk would catch it when I brought it up but he just didn't care.

I once lost an argument as to why a Baneblade is more awesome than a Carnosaur. I forgot to mention the 11 BARRELS OF HELL and the size of the thing. I feel the shame.

I never use my own color scheme as I'm red/green color blind and worry what looks good to me will look awful to others. So I just look online till I find one I like and use that.

I hate painting in general, and have often regretted my choice to play admech just due to the difficulty I have painting them compared to my CSM.

I own a box of unpainted thunder wolf cavalry I essential bought to prove a point while intoxicated. It was the first 40k purchase I ever made, I bought them shortly after they were released.

This is my second dakkadakka account, the first I made while again intoxicated to rant at someone in a thread I necro'd years ago. I actually tried to retrieve it before I made this one, but felt relieved when I realized I no longer had access to the email account it was tied to.

Appreciate the offer of a game! And Yeah, it was bad. He got fired for doing shady stuff with the store stock I heard. Still don't want to go back though.

In most places in the US, it's a pretty fun and friendly environment. At my house, we have a table out on an enclosed patio/deck with fans, a kegerator, and a fridge. At the FLGS you'll find your hyper-competitive neckbeards sometimes, but most of the time the rest of the people warn you. At my FLGS, if you buy models people are asking if you want to build it at the crafting tables and chat and have some cookies (we have a guy whose gal always bakes things).

I've had an experience once or twice with a shady store owner. One last year accused me of stealing a product from him because there was a problem with my debit card and the transaction was voided out a day after purchase. I found the discrepancy and offered to pay him, and he attempted to charge me a 'fee' for a bounced check. I gave him the models back and walked out. He was also the guy that would tell 40k gamers to 'pack it up' so he could use tables for Magic players.

Seven years ago, I basecoated a model with liquid paper because my white paint "didn't have good enough coverage." I didn't know about layering, and thought the poor coverage was because the white wasn't thick enough.

I cut myself on a Citadel mold line remover.

I painted Dire Avengers grey instead of blue.

I don't want to play with my current gaming group consisting of my best friend and a few others because it's full of people who just want to win with the latest flavour of the month. I get more enjoyment painting and playing at the local GW on game nights and setting the scene with people I don't know as well.

I do not like titans and Lords of War will be some of the last purchases I make just for completion sakes.

I flit between armies far too often and yet can't decide on an army for Imperium and Chaos meaning I end up collecting them all.

Everytime I visit Warhammer World with my gaming group, I feel the highlight of the day will be Bugmans.

Once I was trimming my Necron Warriors and I held onto my knife for dear life instead of letting it go when I sneezed. I sliced enough off that I almost needed stitches!

As a teenager, whenever I bought any new 40k stuff, I had a tendency to either hide at least one box or rip off the plastic covering with the price tag on it before I got home. That way I wouldn't have to explain to my parents just how much I actually spent on my stuff.

I'm sometimes scared to talk to people about 40k. I have a tendency to go off on tangents and look incredibly weird.

I once played a game against a 10 year old boy who was just starting out with Tyranids. Intentionally built a list to annihilate him in the game while just claiming I was just getting lucky dice rolls. Why did I act like such a jerk? Because I hated his dad, who was helping him at the time. Neither of them had ever seen AdMech so they had no idea how they worked at first. I was never caught. And I felt horrible about it afterwards.

I've claimed a lifelong hatred towards all things Eldar, while secretly started collecting Harlequins

Once I played in a 500pt Combat Patrol tournament. 3 rounds, 7th ed. I brought Guard/Scions. Scions started in Reserves all three rounds. Me being the idiot I am, I somehow unknowingly brought an extra 200pts worth of Scions, which no one ever caught on to. Karma still punished me because I lost all three games, the last of which I was tabled top of turn 1. Didn't realize until afterwards when I was going over my list and my models. Never said a word, just facepalmed at my idiocy and vowed never to let that happen again.

I actually scared a girl off because of 40k. Both of us were talking, went on a first date. There was some good chemistry, things were looking good. Honestly thought we were gonna start dating after that. She asked about my hobbies at one point. Gave her the rundown: I'm a Star Wars fanboy, I enjoy reading/writing fantasy, and I play 40k. Girl did a complete 180, looked at me like I grew a second head. Made some passive aggressive comment, basically judged me for what I loved. I got mad, called her out for her pettiness, said a few choice words that would get me banned from this site, and scared her off in my anger.

I like Rowboat Girlyman almost as much as I love making fun of him.

I pretty much always buy a pot of paint when I walk into my local store. They are great people, and I just don't get out there to play. I'm way to busy working from 4am - 7pm.

I haven't played yet or finished painting my army. Again lack of time

I recently started dating a Canadian girl, of all things. They're almost like Americans but they say words kind of funny and they're polite. Since she can pass for an American on a cursory glance, I've decided to keep her. I was terrified of telling her about my hobby. But we got close so I decided I had to come out of the bits box.

She laughed, and said it was cute. She asked what it was, and asked if that's what I do on Friday and Saturday nights. I told her it was. Her response?

"I'm glad, because most guys are out in the bars. I have -nothing- to worry about with you and some other chick now. I'm going to keep you stocked."

I owned 3000pts of Tyranids which got so battered in transit I ended up giving them to a friend for free so I didn't have to deal with fixing them.

I started a Necron army because GW gave me a free Lord with a purchase. I played less than 20 games with it and sold it for a fraction of the cost nearly 10 years later.

I owned a Black Templar army that I literally never played with. It was the only army I've ever fully painted to tabletop standard.

My Chaos army is mostly tactical marines and super bad in competitive games and I can't afford to buy new stuff to keep up with the meta so I rarely play.

I have 2 unbuilt Knights because I can't decide what weapons to give them and the idea magnetising them terrifies me.

I've played Chaos for almost a decade and most of my stuff is unpainted because I can't decide which Legion/Warband I want to play and painting Black Legion always turns out bad for me.

I've spent at least 5 times more money on this hobby than I've told my wife.

I want to play Narrative games but all my regulars are tournament gamers who naturally bring optimised lists to friendly games.

I have won less than 5 games since 6th edition.

My largest collection is Lizardmen by a large margin. I've assembled and painted one model from that army.

Despite how much I bitch about Space Marines. I own a big collection of Deathwatch and even have a big mega Deatwatch collectors edition rpg book that would make even GW's prices for collectors editions look reasonable. It's even inscribed with my name on it.

I used to be the biggest space marine gakker in high school and would never ever shut up about them to the point it would annoy my friends.

I would constantly say that space marines could beat anything in every universe of all time.

I have wasted a significant amount of time at the gaming table pointing out the fallacies and "unrealistic" nature of GW fluff.

I have punished myself with Sister's of Battle since the early 90's. . .

I desperately wish the majority of my gaming group would spend as much time on list building and tactical play as they do discussing the Primarch's bathroom habits and other esoteric information. I know in my heart that that is their focus and not mine and there is no right or wrong way when it comes to 40k, but . . .

I ran an ex-marine who was somehow tall and thin yet had an unusually massive physique back when the warhammer RPG basically made you completely randomize a character. Another member of the group had a dwarf pit-fighter who had short legs...it was the worst system and random generation ever...and WE LOVED IT!!!!!! We have not touched it since because obviously, nothing will ever live up to that combo.

I have NEVER bought a model from a GW store (sure rare where I am, but I have been in them dozens of times), Yet have played 40k and fantasy since the 80's. (uh oh, two confessions in one??? I'm a jerk when it comes to supporting GW stores AND I'm a middle aged nerd who plays with toy soldiers???)

I once gave away about 100 guardsmen and now I regret it.

I have not won a game of Warhammer 40,000 in about 4 years.

I have not played a game of Warhammer 40,000 in 2 years.

I have multiple perfectly usable models in storage because they have several blemishes that I don't like.

I have a RoB board and a table's worth of terrain but nowhere to play.

I have discarded all of my older sculpt space marines because I didn't like how the detailing was lacking compared to the newer ones.

I have a fully painted WMH army that I have never once used.

I have totally ruined a Forge World Spartan Assault Tank and feel immense guilt over it.

I always play humans. I am a true son of the Emperor.

I cannot look at a barrel that hasn't been drilled out without wincing.

Moldlines drive me to madness.

I have ripped apart my Space Marine captain about 10 times now.

I will get rid of models if there are superior versions of them. No, I do not consider Primaris Marines superior. Simply different.
