Hey there, I'm Sandro17

I've been a lurker on these forums for a while now and I've finally decided to start posting and making threads

The only tabletop game I play is WH40k, and I'm trying to get my first army into play at 500 points. I'm trying to get an Eldar army started.

Hopefully we can have some very nice and fruitful conversations with each other as time goes by.

Howdy-ho there boyo!
Welcome to the site, it's a wonderful place to praise the tiny plastic men and women.
I may not be in to Eldar (Had a bad experience in a tournament when someone was using a Wraith Knight.. Needless to say the small Army of Kroot I had were decimated, and I've been scarred since)
But I'm curious!
Which Craft world are you basing their paint scheme off of? Or are you doing it in a unique way (Kind of like me doing purple Tau, or white orks, or White and bone coloured Tyranids)

I liked you. I did.

Then you said 'Eldar'.

I dislike you slightly now but appreciate your existence in a friendly manner.

I'm kidding.

Best advice I have for a first-timer? Get on Ebay and Craigslist and buy a lot of used stuff. Trust me, there's a reason for it.

Basically I'll be doing a snow themed Eldar . It'll look very similar to this

Baha, I'm not a Wraithknight or Wraithguard type of Eldar player. I'm more of a Shining Spear/Warpsider guy. I hear the Eldar got a pretty big nerf from last edition, but I don't care, I love overloading flanks and running my opponent around in circles

LOL I guess you had a traumatic experience with the Eldar at one point?

Thanks for the advise, but for better or for worse, I'm a perfectionist. I only play models that are completely painted and well done. If not, it takes the fun out of the game

In fact, I'm the type of guy that if dissatisfied with GW's models I try to find alternative models (No offense to GW, but they have quite some competition in terms of model aesthetics)

Okay I have a funny comment about Warp-spiders but it's implying that you have ever played a Kill team match, so I gotta ask, have you ever played a kill team match? (Which with 500 points worth of dudes you easily could)

Essentially (Don't know if the rules have changed and I've only played it once sooooo yeah) It's a match where you are only allowed 250 points worth of guys (Minimum 3 guys, so no single huge elites) no HQs, and here's the kicker, ever single model is it's own unit.
So I went up against Warp Spiders and oh my Goodness, they are bloody cancer in Kill team matches, because it's like "I am going to fire at this one" "Okay! Now I get to roll and see how far away they teleport" "oh, looks like you're out of range" guy had a whole team of them, God.. They were bouncing around everywhere, I think I got two shots off on them that hit, and I was playing Tau

Not so much 'traumatic', but in my old meta there were a ton of powergamers that had nothing better to do than throw daddy's money at the hobby. At a 'newbie' tournament every one of the worst ones showed up with a slapjob Eldar powergamer army and then as soon as 8th hit, they all hid.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Whoa powergamers at a newbie tournament? How were they allowed? Lucky we're in 8th now.
