So having recently moved I came to the conclusion that I don't need every single old codex and GW rulebook I've ever bought. I have books and white dwarf issues dating back to the 2nd edition and I haven't even flipped through them more than once in the last decade. If I were to sell them on ebay, would I get much for them? Is it worth the time to sell each individual book separately, or should I lump them into lots maybe based on the edition of the game they were from?

What would be a good price to list something like the 2nd edition imperial guard codex for example... $5? $10? $1,000?

have a look on ebay and tick the sold listings filter and you should get an idea of what things are selling for

the only old GW books that really seem to sell well ($2-300 each) are the Lost and the Damned and Slaves to Darkness

since the Rogue Trader re-issue dropped the prices on that

(2nd edition IG codex looks to go between $10-20 not including shipping)

If you've got the time selling sepatately will always get you more, but it depends how much you value your time

Completed listings on ebay will tell you how much people are willing to pay for stuff like that. But there is very little interest in any of that stuff. The same reason that that stuff sat around in your closest without being touched is why there isn't much market for the common stuff like WD and codices.

I tried selling bunch of my older books at Adepticon and couldn't even get $5 for most of them, and they were in excellent like new condition. Most of the old WD issues tend to go for 50 cents of a dollar unless it has something specific in it people are after like sisters of battle rules or introductory stuff for specialist games. Certain individual issues might fetch $10-15 but those are a rarity.

If you have town cryers for mordheim those tend to be in the $10-15 for most of them and their annual compendium and empire in flames books can go for upwards of $100. The issues for Necromunda can also go for a decent amount especially if they are one of the issues that includes new gang rules or has cardstock terrain or templates.

there's a market for old books, just like anything else GW, but the pretty good supply, tepid demand, and expensive shipping on account of weight all combine to keep the prices low.

I have seen people giving away stacks of White Dwarf, as long as you come pick them up!

I sold my copy of 'White Dwarf Presents: Warhammer 40,000' for $20 and that was more than I was expecting to get for it. And that's something that does have some curiosity value to it for people who want to see what old skool 40K was like.

All the WDs I had didn't have interest at all. Except for the ones that had prominent content like army rules, there's not much to make old model releases, battle reports, and paint jobs very interesting.
