I've decided to get back into the 40k hobby. I started in 1st edition and stopped some time during 2nd, I think- it was a long time ago! So long ago that I forgot the rules a long time ago, making it easier to just learn the 8th edition rules fresh.

I picked up the Dark Imperium box, since I wanted the rulebook and have always liked Nurgle armies, and will probably pick up the Index: Chaos or Codex: Chaos Marines soon.

I have a painted Nurgle army, and a bunch of old metal Marine and Chaos minis, so I'm wondering what sort of army I should put together. Looking at the Death Guard army list in the index, it looks like they can't have any demons, so I'm wondering if I should just make that a Nurgle-themed chaos warband instead of a Death Guard army!

While I admit I haven't read the Chaos index, I am pretty sure Chaos can summon daemons. So don't give up!

I started playing in 3rd edition and took a break at the release of 6th when they broke my main army (Orks). I am just coming back for 8th, and it is forming to become quite a nice edition to play. I hope you plan to stick with it, and if you are looking for ideas of what to build, I would go take a look at the army list section of the forum.
