One of the things that kicks Tau in the teeth right now is that all of their vehicles give up two killpoints rather than 1 when wiped out. (The drones get out of the wreck like a transported unit, but become a unit of two which are easily killed for a 'free' killpoint.) .... at the same time, Drone spam is an issue, with Gun Drones running wild and free in massive quantities... oftentimes replacing troops entirely.

So, let's kill two birds with one stone.

My proposal is that all Tau drones get the following two rules:

Programmed - This model is never counted towards an objective.

Expendable - This model is never counted for victory points.

Thus, you can kill all you want without the Tau being penalized for them being on each vehicle, but in return, spamming them prevents you from taking, holding, or contesting any objectives.

As a possible parachute against abuse, these two rules might not be applied to the Drone Unit (fast attack option) .... so, taking a unit of them has both an upside and a downside, but you're not penalized for having them on, say, a Devilfish.

What do you think, sirs?

Expendable is more than a needed rule

At the moment nearly every Tau unit is worth double victory points.

A victory point match will likely see the Tau player bringing a potential 20-30 Victory points, if not more...

Should probably be expanded to prevent them from being Warlords as well.

Only if you do kill points. I'm not opposed to these rule changes-but if you're playing Maelstrom, for instance, Drones give out a lot less points. (They still give out some more, with Overwhelming Firepower, for instance. But not nearly as much.)

I am fie with just pulling the wording right off of tyranid spore mines.

I would also suggest that I think drones need to have the same protection as sniper drones. I.E. they can only be targetted if they are closest. Support and buff drones are hit hard because they just get picked off. (Stealth drones with a ghost kheel for example)

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.
