Hi Guys,

Completely new to AoS but I've been eyeing up the Sylvaneth for quite a while now and I intend to bite the bullet soon. I was just wondering if any of you hardened Sylavneth players had any advice on where to start collecting and where to end up? I'm thinking the start collecting box and building the treeman as an ancient? I really like Alreielle but I feel she's more end game.

If you can manage to find the battleforce that was available last Christmas, definitely get it. I picked up that and two SC boxes plus two extra Kurnoth kits. 2000+ points (based on GHB 2016 points) for around 300 USD! Cheapest army I've built yet.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)

I'll keep an eye out thanks! Is there any units in particular I should be running? Or any particularly good tactics I should look into? May main opponent is going to be Skaven so any help with them would be appreciated!

Kurnoth Hunters are going to be your bread and butter. Hell! They're your bread, butter, meat, potatoes, and dessert! Even considering they are getting a points increase in a couple weeks, they are still one of the strongest units in the entire game. I like running a Gnarlroot Wargrove, which allows each wizard in the formation to cast a bonus healing spell (though you can still only cast the spell once per turn in matched play) that also restores lost models. It also allows you to add in an Order wizard from a different faction without breaking allegiance. Use this to add a Celestial Hurricanum if you're looking to min/max.

It helps that they look seriously cool as well! Haha.

I'm look to build a strong list but I'd like it to be at least a bit fluffy (hard ask I know). From what I've read pairing the Celestial Hurricanum seems a bit off.. but I don't pretend to know enough about it. Is it purely a min/max kind of deal or is there any sort of reason they would actually pair up?

I'm interested to hear how Alrielle and the Spirit of Durthu play? I understand both are very expensive so unlikely to see the table together? But how do either of them proform? Ive seen mixed things on Alrielle some people seem to love her and others say she's to expensive for a standard 2000 point game?

Alarielle has the same problem as Nagash. She is expensive in large part due to here ability to summon more models to the table, but you have to set aside points for those same models to be summoned. It feels like you have to pay for them twice. I wouldn't really say she's overcosted since she's still VERY strong, but I can think of better ways to spend those points. I love the Spirit of Durthu, though. He's a natural tank for your other heroes, and if you give him the Gnarled Warrior battle trait and Oaken Armor, he has a 2+ armor save that ignores most rend values.
