I have been running this list in a couple games so far in 8th and have had a ton of fun. I love that we can first turn charge now. Between magic, ere we go and command rerolls, we should be able to get a couple units in the dirty, but this obviously requires redundancy. This list is about Snikrot being sneaky.. no warp jump here... for now

1499pts Total

Vanguard Detachment

hq
Snikrot

troops
Grots

elite
4 Squads of 15 Kommandos, Big choppa Nobs in each one. (I went with the big choppas for price and hit reliability.)

Mek Kombi-Skorcha

Painboy

Outrider Detachment

hq
Warboss Big Choppa

troops
Boss Nob with Big Choppa, 12 Boyz

elites
2x Meks with Kombi Skorcha's

fast attack
Skorcha Buggy

2x Wartrakks TBS

2x Wartrakks TBS

heavy
battlewagon bigshoota

So the battleplan here is to set up everything in "reserve", and load everything else into the battlewagon (minus the grots).

This gives us: 8 units with the potential for first turn charge, decent mobility, 10 minimum drops, a couple of objective campers if needed

What do you guys think?

My first thought is why the big meks?

Surely their points would be better spent on more skorcha's?

Given the low model count getting into the wagon, why not switch for a trukk? Gives you more points to toss elsewhere.

I have found burnas completely useless on kommandos. Its a turn before they can fire. Aaaand I have found kommandos to be... not so good.

I think with this list he's going for more fun than competitive. Personally I'd leave the burners on the kommando's because you're either charging or being charged. They are decent combat weapons and overwatch with any flamer is always fun.

I agree that Burnas are not very useful on kommandos due to having to start 9" away from the enemy and Burnas only being 8". However I have had great success with using my kommandos in conjunction with other units. I usually use the kommandos as a distraction unit that the opponent can't ignore and have large boys squads jump into place as well as having fast moving units like bikes fly up the board and dump dakka on the opponent. I play against guard and marines a lot I have to overload them with targets so they don't focus fire me. Make them choose. Die now or die later. They can't ignore the kommandos or they will get charged. Either way we will swarm them wit boys.

What about this? Lots of bodies 7cp and a combination of reserve deploy, fast units and da jump. Nobz are surprisingly awesome this edition. The ammo runts don't take up space in the trukk but can be used as ablative wounds for the nobz. The waaagh banner let's orks hit at +1 to hit and then painboy for an obvious reasons.

I like this in all it's cheesey glory. I am wondering if a unit of storm boys would be better than the nobs. Faster moving, cheaper points and an anti-air unit...

I quite like Burnas on Kommandos.
They work great as a close combat weapon rather than range.
