My buddy is planning to play a list that is essentially ravens + draigo (maybe a few other characters) + assassins

What does he lose from GK chapter tactics, etc. by doing so?

I'm not asking for a reprint of the rules, I'd just like to know what I'm up against without spending $50.

If he doesn't run battle forged, he loses +1 to psychic and deny the witch tests and his Troops choices don't have Knights of Titan(objective secured). Also he doesn't get the Grey Knight Stratagems.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

The GK can still gain the bonuses if the army is battleforged and any GK detachments are all GK.

So depends on the way the list has been constructed.

Note that he also loses the game, if he has nothing but flyers on the board. Raven spam has been deservedly neutered.

Where did it say in the Codex that the detachment had to be all GK? I only saw that your army had to be battle-forged.

So you'd have to take a pure Grey Knights Detachment and an Imperial Detachment.

D'oh, missed that. Interesting though, in the actual rules for BoP and the one that gives Obsec, it just says if your army is battle-forged you get those bonuses. Why the devil wouldn't they put "battle-forged armies consisting of only grey knights units"? Boom, no mistaking that.
