just curious if anyone has used these guys before? http://hoardobits.com/cgi/hob/index.pl
they have a great selection of bits and are on ebay.

i placed an order with them and they sent me the wrong parts but seem to be uninterested in resolving the problem.
i know ill get my money back whether through ebay or paypal but i was curious if anyone has had any similar dealings with them and how they were resolved.

i cant imagine why they would simply ignore my emails through the web and ebay.

weird...

I've bought many bits from them over the years and found them reliable. Good luck.

Good luck, I've used them many times over the years.

I don't remember any problems but responsiveness can be a bit slow since they're a sideline for the owner. Keep at them, you'll get an answer eventually.

It's been awhile since I've bought bits, but I've never had trouble with them. Have you tried calling, if a number is listed?

I have ordered many part from them and always found them to be great for conversions and they have always helped me out. It is really strange that they are ignoring you. Maybe check to see if the email address is right, maybe they are away on vacation?

You aren't the first person to have this problem. I've heard more than one person with the same complaint: 99% of their orders are correct, but if they screw something up they just ignore you. If you try to complain they block you, and if you refuse to give them positive feedback they put you on their banned buyer list. I'll never shop from them again.

This was my experience as well, I'd ordered about $400 worth of bits from them on ebay across about a dozen orders without any issue, then one of my packages got lost in the mail. Tracking showed that it'd made it to the post office but disappeared somewhere as it stopped tracking midway through. After waiting a month I tried contacting them asking for a replacement (as I wanted the parts for a conversion and not a refund for the $12) and they didn't respond, attempted to contact them two more times waiting a week in between before filing a paypal dispute didn't get a single reply.

As soon as I filed the dispute I got put on a blocked bidder list so I couldn't purchase from them, so they were obviously paying attention to emails but just choosing to ignore them.

At least for a while they provided a pretty good service, but if you hit one bump in the road they cut you loose. Really gakky business ethics.

Horde has generally been good to me. There was one, and only one, time we had a problem and he wasn't responding to my communication. It was quite a few years ago and it turned out his computer had croaked and it took him a couple days to get a new one and get it set up.

Keep up the communication. Odds are it's just a hardware issue.

They do flat out state that if you open a dispute or give negative feedback they'll block you. But they do generally eventually respond to emails. Just takes a bit.

It's crappy customer service, but in a weird way it's a rational approach to eBay's customer service model.

In practice, as a seller on eBay you have to provide refunds more or less whenever the customer demands them. A person can claim they didn't get the package, that it was broken, wrong thing, whatever, and open a dispute. eBay and/or paypal will side with the customer virtually every time.

Keep in mind eBay's business model: it's not a virtual flea market anymore. It's product is shoppers, and it's core customers are power sellers. Casual or small time sellers are less important. Power sellers want customers that have a lot of faith in the system, and they also are able to account for the losses due to fraudulent refunds.

It sounds messed up to block users that want a refund, and it's messed up that they don't look at a person's purchase history with them, but basically, they've decided not to pick apart who is a long time customer with a legit problem, and who is a scammer.

Very good if things go well (and they always have for me!), if a bit pricey for bitz. But there are horror stories online that if you have a negative experience their belief is "why would you want to shop from us again if you don't like the experience?" So expect most exchanges to be easy, but if you have a problem, you might get refunded, but you won't likely be able to buy from them again. Again; that's knowledge accumulated from on here. I've had perfect experiences with them every time.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

filed the dispute with eBay this morning and was refunded about 2 seconds later.
i'm going to try to just reorder what they didn't send me and see how that goes.
how do you know if you've been blacklisted or whatever?

i can definitely see what you were saying polonious.
eBay did 0 investigation and i could have just made the whole thing up.

I haven't sold anything on eBay lately but it makes me wonder what defense i have as a seller from someone that just wants to say that they never received their items?

Signed for postage. Your receipt proves sending, tracking proves that it was received. I'd never send anything without them having to sign for it. If you do that you are covered.

You'll know because you will be unable to bid on their auctions or purchase anything via "Buy It Now"!

If you've ever wondered why so many people sell their used stuff on facebook groups, local swap meets, or back to stores.... this is why. eBay will get you the best price nearly every single time, but you have very few protections as a seller without spending a large amount on signed for protection, and even that won't always work, because they can claim that the item was damaged or not what they bid on.

So as a follow up it ended well but weird.
I never head back from them so filed an ebay dispute and got my money back almost immediately.
I then just reordered my items and got them the second time around with no problem.
Ill use them again but now i know their customer service is crap.

Pretty much this from what I've read across several threads over time.

At this point I haven't had any issues personally, but I've only ordered from them pretty rarely. I wonder if they google themselves/read threads like these?

A friend of mine had a very similar experience - so I have never ordered from them, and never will.
