Hogtown 40k is an awesome gaming club out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At least once a year they host a Lethal Lottery Doubles Tournament. I make sure to hit up this tournament every year since it is the most fun I ever have at any tournament. It is a wild time every time. So much fun.

For those of you that don't know what a Lethal Lottery is, it means that instead of choosing your doubles partner you are paired with a random person each round. You then face another random pairing each following round. This makes for a wicked fun time since you don't know who you will be paired with each round. Also you could end up facing a player that you were allied with in a previous round. The random aspect of this means that no one ever knows what to expect from their ally or their opponent and can't plan ahead as much as you may like. Also it prevents two people from fielding perfectly complimentary lists. So no cheesy combinations.

What do you guys think of this idea? I'd be interested to hear from the community at large.

Hogtown 40k has been doing it for a few years now and it always gets a great turnout and everyone has a great time. If you want to see my experience at the most recent Lethal Lottery Tournament check out this video.

Perhaps this idea will inspire other communities to do a similar format. Let me know if this speaks to you. If you live in Toronto and play 40k or Horus Heresy please search Hogtown 40k. Their the best gaming club in the city, and possibly the country. I look forward to hearing your responses.
