Veteran Knight Baron in a Crusader

At my desk

Super Heavy Detachment
Lord of War:
Knight Crusader - Rapid-fire Battle Cannon - 540pts
Knight Errant - 430pts
Knight Warden - 466pts
Battalion Detachment
HQ:
Company Commander - Power Maul, Plasma Pistol - 39pts
Company Commander - Shotgun - 30pts
Company Commander - Shotgun - 30pts
Troops:
Infantry Squad - Grenade Launcher, Vox Caster - 50pts
Infantry Squad - Grenade Launcher, Vox Caster - 50pts
Infantry Squad - Grenade Launcher, Vox Caster - 50pts
Infantry Squad - Grenade Launcher, Vox Caster - 50pts
Infantry Squad - Grenade Launcher, Vox Caster - 50pts
Elites:
Command Squad - Vox Caster, 3x Plasma Gun - 39pts
Flyer:
Valkyrie - Multilaser, Hellstrike Missiles - 160pts

1995pts and a comfortable 9 Command Points overall.

The basic gist of this army is the Imperial Knights offer the heavy hitting and the Guard can hold objectives and handle most infantry, the Valkyrie can drop the plasma command squad somewhere and then serves as my anti-air and a little more anti-tank. Thoughts?

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I would not use grenade launchers, too inefficient. If you just want the infantry to be bubblewrap for your knights and objective cappers then they are better off using no special weapons imo. I don't know about the vox casters either, your commanders could just tag along instead and save you the points. If you want more anti-infantry you could invest those points in mortar squads.

I find valkyries to be quite underwhelming and they're not best suited to an anti air role, also I agree with Sossen about the infantry squads and as such conscripts would be stronger. If i were you i would have a couple of conscript blobs, backed up the commanders and some commisars and run scions squads instead of the command squad, the knights seem solid.

Grenade Launchers are arguably worse than normal lasguns. Drop them. Toss in a few plasma guns with the points if you feel like it, but my preference for Infantry Squads is Lascannons. The squad provides a nice wound buffer, and lascannons are one of the most effective heavy weapons out there. If you're strapped for points, replace them with mortars.

Give the Valkyrie a lascannon. Multilasers are all around terrible. One command squad doesn't seem worth it for the valk.

Speaking of that command squad, its going to get shot off the table the instant it gets in range, so make sure it does whatever it needs to do right off the bat. I'd recommend ditching it and spreading the plasma guns around to the other squads unless it has a specific mission.

The shotgun Company Commanders would be better off with Boltguns.

If you want some screening units without having to roll 200 dice bring some bullgryns with mauls.

Fun units to use and they soak major fire.

Looks like you have enough anti tank with the knights. Bring cyclops for anti air? 2D6 S9 auto hits is nothing to sneeze at. I had one one shot a sunshark
